Getting to know Mikaela Anglin

***At the moment this therapist is not accepting medicaid insurance. Please see accepted insurance as well as out of pocket fees below*** My passion is in helping couples reconnect, rebuild, and rediscover love with clarity and compassion. You're here because something's not working. Maybe the communication has broken down, the spark is gone, or you're feeling more like roommates than partners. Perhaps past hurts keep resurfacing, trust has been damaged, or you're stuck in cycles of conflict that leave you both exhausted. I specialize in working with couples who feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the future of their relationship. You're not alone-and your relationship is not beyond repair. My approach is collaborative, non-judgmental, and grounded in helping you both feel heard. I offer a space where both partners can safely explore their needs, understand each other's emotional worlds, and begin shifting the patterns that keep them stuck. As a Jamaican woman and a trained Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master's degree from Hofstra University, I also bring a culturally sensitive lens that acknowledges the complexities of identity, background, and systemic factors impacting relationships.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I combine methods client-centered approach rooted in empathy, collaboration, cbt, dbt, imago, and solutions focused. I do not take sides—instead, I work to help you both access the parts of yourselves that want to love and be loved more freely. My goal is to help you move from conflict and confusion to clarity and connection.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first few sessions will focus on understanding your relationship story—what brought you together, what’s brought you to therapy, and what you hope to change. From there, we’ll identify the key patterns that create disconnection and work together to shift those patterns into something more supportive and healing. Sessions are active, meaningful, and always tailored to your unique needs. Clients who work with me often want: ? Better communication and deeper emotional intimacy ? Tools to manage conflict without escalation ? Healing from infidelity or past betrayals ? Support navigating life transitions (parenthood, loss, cultural shifts) ? A clearer picture of whether to repair or release the relationship If you’re ready to do the work, I’m ready to walk with you. Whether you’re in crisis or just feeling stuck, therapy can be a powerful step toward change. You don’t have to have it all figured out before you begin—just the willingness to try.

We were nervous about going to therapy as a queer couple, but Mikaela made us feel completely safe from the first session. She is helping us to navigate blended family stress and deepen our intimacy without shame. This space is healing in every sense of the word
We came to her after months of feeling disconnected. Her calm presence and ability to listen without judgment helped us open up in a way we hadn’t in years. She introduced tools that made us feel safe and heard again. We’ve learned to fight fair and reconnect emotionally. We can’t thank her enough.
After an affair, we didn’t think we could recover—but Mekaela is instrumental in helping us rebuild trust. She is fair, honest, and pushes both of us when needed. It's def not easy, but the work has saved our relationship.
She gave us structure when everything felt like chaos. She uses real, strategies and doesn’t let you just vent endlessly—She actually teaches communication. We’re not 100% ‘fixed,’ but we have skills now, and that’s a huge win as we continue to work through our stuff.
Such a great and insightful therapist. Soon as I had my first session with her I said YEP! we're in the right place. Seriously so glad we choose her, she is making a difference already.
