Getting to know Milka Galvez
I'm passionate about mental health advocacy, shaped by my own personal journey. Having faced the highs and lows of mental health, I’ve committed myself to breaking the stigma that surrounds it.
I earned my Bachelor's degree from Chamberlain University and a Master's in Nursing from Walden University, which have equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support others effectively.
My goal is to help others navigate their own experiences, fostering a community where everyone can find understanding and support. I believe that everyone deserves a quality life filled with hope, connection, and resilience.
What should a new client know about working with you?
As a mental health provider, my role is to support you through a combination of therapeutic conversations, mental health assessments, and, when appropriate, medication management. Here’s what you can expect when working with me:
My Approach
I take a holistic, patient-centered approach to mental health care, considering not just symptoms but also your lifestyle, medical history, and personal goals. My aim is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where we work together to find the best treatment plan for you.
What to Expect in Our Sessions
Initial Visit: Our first session will involve a comprehensive assessment of your mental health history, current concerns, and treatment goals.
Follow-Up Appointments: These are focused on monitoring progress, adjusting treatment as needed, and discussing any challenges or side effects you may be experiencing.
Medication Management: If we decide that medication is part of your treatment plan, I will provide education on its benefits, potential side effects, and expected outcomes. Medication is always a collaborative decision.
Confidentiality & Trust
Your privacy is a priority. Everything we discuss is confidential, except in situations where I am legally required to act (such as concerns of harm to yourself or others). I will always be transparent about these limits.
Your input is essential in making treatment decisions. I encourage open communication about what is or isn’t working.

Milka was a delight. She would listen after she asked me a question. Helped me understand some of the medications and also seemed concerned about my health. I feel comfortable talking to Milka and can't wake to see her again.

When I was told by a movement disorder specialist that she had nothing else to offer me, I was referred to palliative care. That put me into a severe and deep depression. Fortunately, I found Milka Galvez. Milka took the time to talk to me empathetically as a person and not just a patient. At times, my care-partner, Mike, had to contact Milka since he was concerned about my state of mind. Milka always responded promptly and reassured me that the medications would work given time. After trial and error and patience, Milka found the right combination of medications and I have been functioning well since.
Subsequently, I have gone from a depressed person unable to function to a person who is now taking dance lessons, in a book club, and meeting other women for lunch.
Mike and I cannot thank Milka enough for her patience, care, and responsiveness. Milka is a very special Nurse Practitioner and we both highly recommend her.
