“Dr. Min Wang listened to me and my symptoms, as well as the reason I wanted to leave my prior psychiatrist. We actually discussed treatments, effectiveness, and side effects instead of him just telling me what I should do, like my previous doctor. Dr. Wang is non-judgmental and rather than agreeing or arguing with me about everything, he gave an actual objective medical assessment. This is much better than the “in my opinion and after 15 minutes of talking to you, I think you should make this major life change without a safety net and also take these pills.” We also found out my prior doctor had increased one of my psych meds past the recommended therapeutic dose without telling me it was higher than necessary. I’ll be switching to Dr. Wang for now, definitely.”

Getting to know Dr. Min Wang

Before coming to the US, I graduated from the top medical school in China and have a background in internal medicine. After 10 years of practicing medicine, I had the opportunity to train as a psychiatrist at the University of Tennessee and became a board-certified general psychiatrist. My training in the field of internal medicine has helped my psychiatry practice, especially in the care of geriatric patients, who often have chronic medical conditions. I am very conscious of the side effects of the medications commonly used in the treatment of mental illness, some of which may affect a patient's physical health. I have been practicing psychiatry for about 12 years in the Chicagoland area, treating a diverse population of patients. My approach includes listening to a patient's story and concerns, evaluating patients’ cultural, social, mental, and physical status, their support system, and treating the patient as a whole person. I then generate a treatment plan that can include psychotherapy and other supportive therapy, not only the prescription of medication. I speak Mandarin fluently and can support patients with that language need.

It can be difficult to rate a doctor whom you’ve only had one 15 min session with but in a way I asked the same of him; "diagnose me in 15 mins"; the irony! LOL. That said, I can certainly give my first impressions of Dr. Wang. I found him to be personable and thoughtful. He asked his questions and listened attentively. He made sensible suggestions and he didn’t get mad when I pushed back a bit. All good in my book so far.

Dr Min was fantastic. Took his time learning about me and had great advice. Recommend him 100%. I chose him when I read his back ground and was thrilled with my choice in the end.

Dr Wang was fantastic. He listened attentively and immediately was able to understand my concerns and put me at ease. He is very easy to talk to and took his time. His advice went above and beyond not just the immediate, but also went into how to plan for the long-term. I look forward to my next appointment with him.

Dr Wang is attentive and somehow it felt like he knew me since I was a child. On another note, Dr Wang is also polite and has a great bedside manner. He does not beat around the bush. I've been around many doctors recently and I highly recommend him. People person Doctors are few and challenging to come by.

This was one of the most unprofessional medical experiences I have ever encountered. At no point in time did I take this person serious nor did I believe they would help me in any meaningful way after they laughed at my responses they asked for, multiple times. This person should not be practicing in this field if this is the level of professionalism and compassion he shows to his patients. Made me feel like a stupid low-life idiot while inflating his own ego. I have never been so upset about a medical experience in my life.
