About Dr. Mirtha Gonzalez

Houston Dermatology and Plastic Surgery is proud to present our newest Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Mirtha Gonzalez! Dr. Gonzalez is Nicaraguan by birth, Texan by choice, and Plastic Surgeon by training. Exposed to medicine at an early age through her father’s pediatric practice, Dr. Gonzalez knew early on that she would become a doctor. Dr. Gonzalez obtained her Bachelor of Science degree with honors from the University of Houston. She received her Doctorate of Medicine from UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Inspired by the technical demands of the operating room and the ability to change lives with her hands, she pursued and completed a general surgery residency in the prestigious Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Fulfilling a life-long passion to treat patients and to help improve their physical and mental well being, she elected to continue her training and completed her plastic surgery residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System. After completing her training she decided to return home to Houston, Texas, where she lives with her husband, Dr. Geoffrey Konopka. Dr. Gonzalez is bilingual (English and Spanish) and strives to provide excellent medical care to her patients. Her warm, friendly personality and southern hospitality make her patients feel like family. Dr. Gonzalez is passionate about changing patients’ lives by allowing them to feel more comfortable and happy in their skin.
