What should a new client know about working with you?

When you book an appointment with me, you are stepping into a judgment-free, patient-centered space. My goal is to ensure you feel heard and validated from our first interaction. Knowing that psychiatric care can feel intimidating, my style is intentionally warm, straightforward, and conversational. I want our sessions to feel less like a clinical interrogation and more like a collaborative partnership. My practice focuses on comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and thoughtful medication management. While my main role is not as a traditional talk therapist, I incorporate supportive therapy, psychoeducation, and lifestyle counseling into every visit. If you would benefit from weekly, in-depth psychotherapy, I will gladly collaborate with your current therapist to ensure you have a well-rounded care team. I practice conservative, evidence-based psychopharmacology. I believe in using the lowest effective dose of medication to achieve maximum benefit while minimizing side effects. I will never rush to prescribe. Instead, we will explore all your options—discussing the "why" and "how" of any treatment so you can make an informed decision. Medication is just one tool in your toolkit; we will also discuss sleep, stress management, and other holistic factors that impact your well-being. During our initial evaluation, we will take a deep dive into your history, current symptoms, and personal goals. Come exactly as you are—there is no need to prepare perfectly. Bring your honesty, and together we will map out a clear, actionable plan tailored to your needs. I am committed to being a reliable, accessible, and compassionate guide on your journey toward stability and peace. I look forward to working with you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My process is designed to be thorough, transparent, and centered around your individual goals. I want you to feel fully informed and comfortable at every stage of your treatment. Our journey begins with a comprehensive initial psychiatric evaluation, which typically lasts around 45 to 60 minutes. During this first session, my primary goal is to listen. We will take a deep dive into your current symptoms, your medical and psychiatric history, your lifestyle, and the specific challenges bringing you in. I conduct a careful, evidence-based diagnostic assessment, looking at the whole picture rather than just isolated symptoms. By the end of this first visit, we will discuss my clinical impressions and collaborate to build a personalized treatment plan. If we decide that medication is the right path for you, we will thoroughly review how it works, what to expect, and any potential side effects. I want you to leave this initial session with a clear roadmap and a sense of hope. Subsequent follow-up appointments are generally 15 to 30 minutes long. During these sessions, we will monitor your progress, assess how well your medication is working, make any necessary adjustments, and celebrate your wins. We will also discuss how sleep, nutrition, and daily stressors are impacting your recovery. While I integrate supportive therapy, motivational interviewing, and psychoeducation into every visit to ensure you are receiving holistic care, my primary clinical focus is expert medication management. I do not provide weekly, full-hour traditional talk therapy. However, I highly value a collaborative team approach and will gladly coordinate care with your primary therapist to ensure you are receiving the most robust, comprehensive support possible.
