She earned her M.S. in Nursing degree from Maryville University where she was a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, and she earned her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Murray State University. She also gained an additional credential as a Dermatology Certified Nurse Practitioner from the Dermatology Nursing Certification Board. She began her healthcare career working in a pharmacy after high school, then became a registered nurse and has worked in various settings. She has also enjoyed teaching and precepting nursing students as a Clinical Nursing Instructor. During her training in the Nurse Practitioner program, she developed a desire for treating and diagnosing skin disorders. Misty is certified and licensed to diagnose, prescribe, and treat patients of all ages with general dermatologic concerns. Her expertise includes surgical excisions, biopsies, as well as diagnosing and treating skin disorders. Misty has a passion for helping her patients achieve healthy skin at all stages of life. She trained and practiced for 4 years alongside a Dermatologist in Southern Illinois. Misty also has experience working in Urgent Care as a Family Nurse Practitioner. In her time away from work, Misty enjoys listening to music, the outdoors, traveling and spending time with family, her husband, Nathan and their cat Esmeralda.
