I don’t think I’ll be seeing this provider again. It was to my understanding that they had an awareness of tic disorders and a history of how to treat them. I was told that my tics were solely anxiety driven. I unfortunately did not feel listened to and my concerns about specific tic disorders were met with “your tics aren’t prominent enough,” which showed me a lack of education surrounding tic disorders. A few weeks after seeing this provider, I was diagnosed with Tourette syndrome and referred for CBIT therapy, Botox, and oral medication. This provider might be fine if you’re someone who is dealing with depression or anxiety, but I would not count on them to work with anything more complex.
