Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
AZ
I'm a triple board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with more than 30 years of experience in direct patient care. I provide full-scope outpatient psychiatric care for children, teens, and adults ages 6 to 65, with telehealth appointments to fit your life. My approach is humanistic, warm, and collaborative. I believe you are the expert on your own experience, and I work alongside you to understand your goals and build a plan that feels right for you. I offer thoughtful psychiatric assessment, medication management, and brief, solution-focused, trauma-informed care, along with crisis support when it's needed. When helpful, I draw on Motivational Interviewing to support meaningful, lasting change. My style is direct, clear, and judgment-free, and I make space for the whole person, not just a diagnosis. I have deep experience caring for LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients, and I especially enjoy working with growth-oriented and twice-exceptional individuals. I also specialize in perinatal mental health, supporting parents through pregnancy, postpartum, and the transitions of early family life. Whether you're managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood changes, or simply feeling stuck, I'm here to help you find clarity and steady footing. My background as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse-Midwife gives me a whole-person perspective that blends conventional and holistic care. I take time to educate patients and families, and I'm glad to help you navigate new diagnoses, school accommodations such as IEPs and 504 plans, and support in the workplace. I also welcome collaboration with therapists, primary care providers, and the other people invested in your care. Whatever brings you here, my hope is that you feel heard, respected, and supported from our very first conversation. I look forward to partnering with you on your path toward greater well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note: I do not accept EAP programs. Our work starts with a genuine conversation. I take time to get to know your story, your goals, and what matters most to you, because I believe no one knows your experience better than you. My style is warm, humanistic, and collaborative, with clear, direct communication so you always understand what to expect and the reasons behind our decisions. I aim to create a calm, judgment-free space where you feel safe opening up, and we'll move at a pace that feels right for you. I provide full-scope outpatient psychiatry for ages 6 to 65 through telehealth appointments that work with your schedule. Care usually blends medication management with brief, solution-focused, and trauma-informed support, and crisis support is available when needed. When it fits, I use Motivational Interviewing to help you work toward meaningful, lasting change. I approach treatment holistically, seeing you as a whole person rather than a single diagnosis, and I welcome your questions and input along the way so your plan truly reflects your values and priorities. I have extensive experience with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients, and I especially enjoy working with growth-minded and twice-exceptional individuals. I also bring specialized experience in perinatal mental health, supporting clients through pregnancy, the postpartum period, and the transitions of early parenthood. Beyond our visits, I'm glad to offer education and guidance around new diagnoses, help with school accommodations such as IEPs and 504 plans, and coordinate with your therapist, primary care provider, and others on your care team. My hope is that you'll leave each visit feeling heard, respected, and supported. With over 30 years of experience across psychiatry, family health, and women's health, I bring a wide-ranging perspective to your care. If you're looking for an affirming, thoughtful partner who is deeply invested in your well-being, I'd be honored to work with you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Please note that I do not accept EAP programs. Treatment begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, where I'll get to know your history, current concerns, and goals, as well as the bigger picture of your life, such as family, relationships, work or school, and the experiences that have shaped you. Afterward, I'll share my observations, explain any diagnosis in clear, everyday terms, and we'll create a treatment plan together. I want you to understand the reasoning behind each recommendation and feel like an active participant, never hurried or dismissed. My main focus is medication management and psychopharmacology. Follow-up visits generally center on your response to treatment, careful medication adjustments, and tracking your overall progress and wellbeing. Still, these appointments are more than brief check-ins. I use a brief, solution-focused, trauma-informed approach, so there's space to address what's really happening in your life. When useful, I incorporate techniques such as Motivational Interviewing to help you make meaningful, lasting changes. If you would benefit from regular, in-depth talk therapy, I'll help arrange it and stay in close contact with your therapist so your care remains coordinated. I'll also let you know how to reach me between appointments and what steps to take if something urgent comes up. My support extends beyond appointments. I provide case management, treatment planning, and education for both patients and families. I can help with new diagnoses, assist with school accommodations like IEPs and 504 plans, and coordinate with your primary care provider and other members of your care team. Telehealth visits are available, and we'll choose a follow-up schedule that suits you, meeting more often at first and less frequently as you become stable. My goal is for you to feel heard, respected, and consistently supported throughout our work together.
