Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
AZ
I'm a triple board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with more than 30 years of experience in direct patient care. I provide full-scope outpatient psychiatric care for children, teens, and adults ages 6 to 65, with telehealth appointments to fit your life. My approach is humanistic, warm, and collaborative. I believe you are the expert on your own experience, and I work alongside you to understand your goals and build a plan that feels right for you. I offer thoughtful psychiatric assessment, medication management, and brief, solution-focused, trauma-informed care, along with crisis support when it's needed. When helpful, I draw on Motivational Interviewing to support meaningful, lasting change. My style is direct, clear, and judgment-free, and I make space for the whole person, not just a diagnosis. I have deep experience caring for LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients, and I especially enjoy working with growth-oriented and twice-exceptional individuals. I also specialize in perinatal mental health, supporting parents through pregnancy, postpartum, and the transitions of early family life. Whether you're managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood changes, or simply feeling stuck, I'm here to help you find clarity and steady footing. My background as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse-Midwife gives me a whole-person perspective that blends conventional and holistic care. I take time to educate patients and families, and I'm glad to help you navigate new diagnoses, school accommodations such as IEPs and 504 plans, and support in the workplace. I also welcome collaboration with therapists, primary care providers, and the other people invested in your care. Whatever brings you here, my hope is that you feel heard, respected, and supported from our very first conversation. I look forward to partnering with you on your path toward greater well-being.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note: I do not accept EAP programs. It all starts with an open, relaxed conversation. I want to learn your story, your goals, and the things that matter most to you, since no one understands your experience the way you do. My style is warm, humanistic, and collaborative, and I keep communication clear and direct so you'll always know what comes next and the reasoning behind it. I work to provide a calm, accepting environment where you can share freely, and we'll always move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I offer full-scope outpatient psychiatric care for ages 6 to 65, with flexible telehealth visits built around your schedule. Treatment generally combines medication management with brief, solution-focused, trauma-informed support, and crisis support is available when you need it. When it's useful, I draw on Motivational Interviewing to help you create meaningful, lasting change. I view care holistically, focusing on you as a whole person instead of a single diagnosis, and I invite your questions and input at every step so your plan reflects your values and priorities. I have extensive experience supporting LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients, and I particularly enjoy partnering with twice-exceptional and growth-minded individuals. I also bring specialized expertise in perinatal mental health, guiding clients through pregnancy, the postpartum period, and the changes that come with early parenthood. Outside our sessions, I'm happy to offer education after a new diagnosis, assist with school accommodations like IEPs and 504 plans, and collaborate with your therapist, primary care provider, and others involved in your care. Above all, I want you to leave every visit feeling heard, respected, and supported. My 30-plus years of experience in psychiatry, family health, and women's health shape the care I offer. If you're searching for an affirming, thoughtful provider who is truly invested in your well-being, I'd be delighted to work with you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Please note that I do not accept EAP programs. Our work together typically starts with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. During that first visit, I'll take the time to learn your history, what's concerning you now, the goals you're carrying, and the fuller context of your life—family, relationships, work or school, and whatever else has shaped who you are. From there, I'll share what I'm noticing, explain any diagnosis in everyday language, and we'll design a treatment plan side by side. It matters to me that you understand the reasoning behind each recommendation and feel like a genuine partner throughout—never hurried, never spoken over. Medication management and psychopharmacology are my main focus, so later visits generally revolve around how treatment is working for you, fine-tuning medications with care, and keeping an eye on your progress and wellbeing. Still, I don't run appointments as rushed check-ins. My style is brief, solution-focused, and trauma-informed, which leaves genuine space in each session for whatever you're actually facing. Where it helps, I lean on tools like Motivational Interviewing to encourage change that lasts. Should you need consistent, in-depth talk therapy, I'll help set that up and stay in close contact with your therapist so nothing falls through the cracks. And between visits, you'll always know how to reach me and what to do in an urgent moment, so no concern leaves you on your own. There's more to my role than the visit itself—I provide case management, treatment planning, and education for you and your family. I welcome new diagnoses, assist with school accommodations like IEPs and 504 plans, and coordinate with your primary care provider and anyone else on your team. Sessions happen by telehealth, and we'll find a follow-up cadence suited to you—closer together at first, then spaced out as things settle. All along, my aim is for you to feel heard, respected, and reliably supported.
