About Dr. Monica Ghitan
Dr. Ghitan is the Associate Director of Infectious Diseases and Fellowship Program Director in the Department of Medicine, and Medical Director of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program, at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. She completed her medical degree at Universitatea de Medicina si Farmacie Carol Davila Facultatea de Medicina, followed by both her residency and fellowship there. She has been part of the Maimonides team for years.
Dr. Ghitan has been involved in a wide range of research, including infection epidemiology and transmission, resistant organisms, and Clostridium difficile, among others. The doctor herself was wonderful, kind, attentive, and genuinely empathetic. Took the time to listen to my concerns and provided thorough, helpful information.
Unfortunately, the office staff completely overshadowed that positive experience. My appointment was confirmed two weeks in advance. On the day of my visit I a staff member called yelling at me, insisting the doctor could not help me and could not see me at all. When I asked why this wasn’t addressed during the confirmation call, the woman on the phone was extremely rude, repeatedly interrupting me by raising her voice. At one point, she placed me on hold without asking and did not return. I called back multiple times before she finally answered, only to defensively insist that she was not the person who confirmed my appointment, rather than showing empathy or concern for my health situation.
Because of the unprofessional and hostile behavior from the staff, I would not recommend this office to anyone. I suggest going elsewhere.
