About Dr. Monica Medrano
Monica Medrano, MD MS, is co-medical director of the Ashland Avenue Innovative Primary Care. She is a board-certified family medicine physician with experience in women's health, general primary care, LGBTQI+ health, and aesthetic medicine. Dr. Medrano offers in-office procedures and works with MedSpa to provide injectables and PDO threadlifts. She attended Loyola Stritch School of Medicine and completed her residency at St. Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in Chicago. Dr. Medrano enjoys helping people achieve good health through treatment and prevention. She is often praised for her caring approach, and she builds strong and long-lasting relationships with her patients.

I came into the encounter with a handful of health concerns, and Dr. Medrano made sure to address all of them during our appointment. We discussed long-term monitoring and management plans for chronic issues, and she provided referrals to specialty clinics as needed.
I identify as transgender (ftm), and the main reason I came to the clinic was to begin testosterone hormone replacement therapy. Dr. Medrano was very knowledgeable about the options available (e.g. pros/cons of gel vs injection). She took care to understand what outcomes I was looking for, and ensured I was aware of various side effects.
I highly recommend her to anyone looking for primary care, but especially to transgender people looking for someone with the knowledge to navigate the nuances of HRT.

From the front desk to the nurse to Dr. Medrano. Excellent experience. Great atmosphere, and it feels like you are welcomed and they want to help. I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Monica Medrano at Innovative Primary Care. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations.
I didn’t have to wait long, and the office itself is new and clean, which made the visit even more pleasant. A nice touch was the beverages available in the waiting area—especially the coffee, which was perfect since I woke up a bit late.
The ladies at the front desk were welcoming and attentive, setting a positive tone right from the beginning. My nurse was efficient and had amazing energy, making me feel comfortable throughout the process.
Dr. Medrano was the highlight of the visit. She made me feel completely at ease, like I was chatting with a friend I’ve known for years. She was quick, efficient, and answered all my questions with care. I fully intend to make her my primary care doctor moving forward. Excellent experience all around!

I did not feel like this provider listened to me. I was talked at and could barely get a word in about my questions and concerns. I left with unanswered questions and feeling like the appointment was a waste of time. They also tried to pressure me to have additional services performed at this location. I would not recommend this practice. The only positive was the MA I saw. She was great.

I was excited to try this office, but that quickly went downhill post-visit. The office was running behind schedule due to the patient before me arriving late, things happen, but need to plan accordingly. While the provider and office staff were kind, I was not advised that I would be billed additionally for the mandatory client intake forms. (Double billed at that)
During the appointment I was put off by the doctor repeatedly speaking to therapy to ‘have a healthy relationship with food’. Therapy is great, no shade there! However this was not why I was there, and felt as if the doctor was not listening to my concerns. I did appreciate the doctor ordering multiple labs. Please note the doctor was not who I scheduled with on ZocDoc.
The negative experience stems from ZocDoc and the office being listed as ‘in-network’, when apparently they are not. I am now paying out of pocket unexpectedly, and having to go through a tumultuous claims process with no support from the office.

Dr. Monica M. was very knowledgeable and suggested me the right medication when in need. I was suffering with high fever and throat aches and nasal blockage due to a severe flu. She considered my historical treatment plans as well and adjusted the medication accordingly. I cannot thank her enough for the timely care.

Dr. Medrano was SO NICE and so helpful. It was so nice to see a doctor who genuinely wants to help you feel better both physically and emotionally. I have health anxiety and she sat and listened to all of my needs and questions with zero judgement and validated me every step of the way while providing me with information to make me feel better. She was very comprehensive while being down to earth and so friendly. I will definitely be coming back to her for future visits. Highly, highly recommend. She’s one of the doctors who’s in this profession for the right reasons!

Haven’t seen a doctor is a really long time and was nervous to do so today. I’ve had very bad experiences with doctors prior but Arielle was so lovely and had no judgment. Genuinely felt cared for and the nurse Kareem was so kind and precise while drawing my blood etc.
will be recommending and won’t be nervous to come back!
I also requested only women and that was also honored and I appreciate it.
