Dr. Monica Nichols, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP, is a board certified doctor of nursing practice with a specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health Medicine and in Family Medicine. She brings to our practice over 10 years of health care experience in the areas of pediatrics, family medicine, and psychiatry. Dr. Nichols sees child, adolescent, and adults patients at our practice for a wide range of mental health concerns including attention and behavioral disorder diagnoses including ADHD, oppositional/defiant behavior disorders, conduct disorders, anxiety, and developmental disabilities. Dr. Nichols completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Barry University in 2016 and her Post-Masters Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing at the University of Miami in 2021. Two of her areas of clinical interest are working with at-risk youth and the practice of functional psychiatry. Her Doctoral dissertation project focused on improving prenatal care for adolescents who are incarcerated in juvenile facilities. Dr. Nichols is currently training towards certification from the Institute of Functional Medicine. Dr. Nichols is well-versed in working with patients to treat an array of mental health concerns from ADHD to anxiety and depression to bipolar disorder. In her time outside of clinical work, Dr. Nichols teaches as an adjunct and clinical faculty member at Barry University and volunteers with Caring for Miami’s Mobile Health Unit. Dr. Nichols is bilingual and sees patients for services in both English and Spanish languages.
