Monica decided to further her education and career. She was accepted and graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. Monica’s interest in dermatology began at Simmons College, where she was drawn to Dermatology lectures and presentations. This interest blossomed into a love of all things dermatology as she decided this was the field of medicine she wanted to pursue. Upon graduation, Monica accepted a Dermatology position at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. At this prestigious hospital, she received the very best in dermatology and patient care training. One day a week, she was selected to take part in a specialized pigmented lesion clinic, where she performed skin checks with mole mapping photos. Desiring professional growth, opportunity, and autonomy in practice, she accepted a position at UMASS Dermatology. During her time at UMASS Dermatology, she had the opportunity to partner and learn from some of the country’s most renowned dermatologists. The diversity of patient cases provided the confidence required to treat the most complex of dermatological conditions. In Monica’s four years at UMASS Dermatology, she not only became proficient in all general dermatology concerns but was also a first assistant in Mohs procedures.
