About Dr. Nakul Karkare
I am Dr. Nakul V. Karkare, an orthopedic surgeon highly specialized in limb reconstruction and joint replacement surgery.
I completed my medical degree at Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Memorial Medical College, followed by fellowships in Arthroplasty and Metabolic Bone Disease at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, Orthopedic Sports Medicine at Wayne State University, and Orthopedic Trauma at the University of Maryland’s R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. My MS degree in biomedical materials engineering from SUNY offers me a unique perspective. I critically think about and understand each patient’s unique needs when it comes to joint replacements. Not all joints are made the same!
I have operating privileges at Lenox Hill Hospital, St. Charles Hospital, St. Catherine Hospital, Mather Hospital, and Peconic Bay Medical Center. I also serve on an FDA advisory board under the Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Device Panel.

From the moment I made my appointment, Dr. Karkare's office staff showed me genuine concern and respect. When I arrived for my first visit, they immediately took care of all my needs without delay. I had questions about forms for my job and was pleasantly suprised how fast everything was completed.

I was impressed with the level of professionalism at this office. The staff is great, and Dr. Karkare exhibits a high degree of knowledge in his field. He used a knee model to show me exactly where I was having my issue and how to fix this. The amount of time he took with me was very impressive.

I would rate this office 5 stars. I am in need of a hip replacement and found Dr. Karkare. I loved the fact that he didn't pressure me into surgery. He gave me all options surgical and non surgical. I appreciated he took his time to explain everything.

Dr. Karkare performed my hip replacement surgery, and his surgical skills are excellent. My scar is barely visible, so I'll be going back to him for the other hip soon. I have made so much progress and can't wait to get back to my life beofre pain.

Great experience the doctor is great and the staff is incredible. I was recommended to Dr. Karkare by a friend after experiencing knee pain for quite some time. After I was thoroughly exmained I was given excersises to do at home and recommendations to improve my daily activies. Since seeing Dr. Karkare I feel much better.

I have suffered for years with severe pain in my knees, and I was so scared to get them replaced.
I was recommended to see Dr. Karkare; after discussing the procedure he made me feel at ease about proceeding. Now that it's done, I can walk again! He really is the best doctor around!

Dr. Karkare replaced both of my hips, and now I'm able to do the things I enjoy without pain. I was so impressed that I recieved post operative phone calls every day by his surgical scheduler for 2 weeks in a row! Dr. Karkare also called me personally multiple times during my recovery.
