Getting to know Nakyung Choe

I believe every person deserves compassionate, personalized mental health care that goes beyond simply treating symptoms. My goal is to understand your story, identify what's been holding you back, and work together to create a treatment plan that helps you feel like yourself again. Whether you're seeking care for the first time or have been struggling for years, I strive to provide a supportive environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered. I take an evidence based, collaborative approach to treatment and enjoy caring for individuals with depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, trauma related disorders, and autism spectrum disorder. I have a special interest in helping patients who haven't found meaningful relief with traditional treatments and enjoy discussing innovative, evidence based options when appropriate. My focus is always on finding the treatment that best fits your individual needs and long term goals.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe the best care starts with listening. During our first few visits, my goal is to understand not only your symptoms but also your experiences, strengths, and what you hope to achieve. I take time to explain treatment options, answer questions, and make sure every decision is one we make together. Many of my patients come to me after feeling frustrated that previous treatments haven't provided the improvement they were hoping for. If that's your experience, know that there may be additional evidence based options available. Together, we'll explore treatments that align with your goals, including advanced therapies when clinically appropriate, while ensuring you feel informed and supported every step of the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first appointment is about getting to know you as a whole person. We'll discuss your current concerns, past experiences with treatment, medical and mental health history, and what you hope life will look like when you're feeling better. Together, we'll create a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management, lifestyle recommendations, collaboration with your therapist, and regular follow up visits. As treatment progresses, we'll continually evaluate what's working and make adjustments as needed. For patients living with PTSD, trauma-related conditions, or depression that has not responded well to traditional medications, I believe it's important to have thoughtful conversations about the full range of evidence-based treatment options, including newer therapies when appropriate. My goal is to help you move beyond simply managing symptoms toward achieving meaningful, lasting improvement in your quality of life.
