Dr. Bhutia only spoke to me for 15 minutes. He didnt introduce himself to me, nor did he offer any kind of help other than a prescription. He was also on his computer or phone for half of the time I was there because he was "having issues" with them. I didnt feel like he really cared about my mental well-being.
Great doctor. He listens to what you believe your needs are and that was nice.
Dr. Bhutia was very kind and friendly.
It was my first consult so I will have a better sense of Dr. bhutia by next session. But i was called on time, the staff was very professional amd welcoming. The dr. Answered all my questions and i told him i look forward to speaking with him next session. He is similar to my previous therapist due to his international experience and he speaks many languages, which i favor.
Dr. Bhutia was great! He thoroughly listened to me and the appointment did not feel rushed or long. I would recommend Dr. Bhutia and I look forward to my next appointment.
I didn't feel judged by him. I'm young and on a lot of medication which I feel like often leads to my doctors stereotyping me as troubled in that department. However, I'm not and I didn't feel like he jumped to that conclusion which makes it easier to be open about my other issues. It is a fast process, which works for me. IF, however, you want more of a diagnosis and are confused about your problems, I don't know how that would go. I think it worked for me because I have already done the experimenting with which medicine works best and didn't have questions so much as I need a doctor who isn't judgmental subjective.
Not what I expected . He didn't even communicated well with me . Barely saw me for 10 minutes .
Dr. Bhutia is a fantastic psychiatrist - and I've been to many! He is thorough, engaged, very knowledgeable, and took all the time I needed to discuss how things are going and how my medication is working. He also successfully advocated for me to get authorization from my insurance company to cover the medication that best treats my symptoms. I was worried about travel time going to queens, but his office is right off the subway and it took me less time to get there than many places in Manhattan. Also, I have not had to wait more than a few minutes to see him which is very different than previous psychiatrist! Great experience - I will absolutely stick with him!
Charged me a consultation fee, and only saw me for five minutes, where he read aloud the assessment that I had filled out online. He then told me that he couldn't help me with what I was looking for but could either prescribe me medication, or refer me to another doctor. Waste of time & money.
He is fast and also listens . He's a good person
Dr Bhutia is kind and a good listener. He is willing to take your input on what treatment you think may be appropriate.
I didn't find the 10 minute appointment to be a good use of my time. His initial recommendation was for a brand name antidepressant that he had samples for, but has very weak efficacy evidence for my condition.
I have been seeing Dr. Bhutia for several years. If you appreciate a fast and efficient approach to obtaining a script for medication, he is the man for you. Over the years, however, I have required more care and attention in regards to my mental health. Dr. Bhutia is more interested in re-booking as many appointments as possible so he can obtain insurance reimbursement for his 2 minute sessions. Meanwhile, many of his patients (myself included) are looking for care that extends beyond that of a pill-mill. This doctor clearly works for many people, but if you seek a truly genuine and compassionate person to help you, please consider looking elsewhere.
Takes his time, very kind.
He listened, seems well educated, asked me plenty of questions, he answered all of my questions and concerns. It was my first visit with him.
Didn't help me at all. I didn't even get a chance to talk to him about my problems. All he asked me was what prescription I needed and sent me on my way. I thought a psychiatrist was suppose to hear your problems and then if you need a prescription I need and that was all. He is not helpful at all. I would never go to him again.
I Love Dr,Bhutia, he takes the time to ask me if I am ok & is very understanding to my needs & worries.
Didn't love his approach. His office wasn't overwhelmingly welcome and his staff wasn't very friendly. Didn't spend much time with me...
He was forty minutes late when I finally went into his office he didn't greet me or state his name he just pointed for me to sit down. He asked why I was there I told him and expressed the new concerns He did not address them and just prescribed what I had already been taking. He was just a mute. When I left there were people just coming in and out of that office as if he was just a pill refill factory. If you know what you need and know how to self medicate then he is the doctor to see. It is very difficult to deal with mental illness and it's hard when you have to explain personal emotional issues to someone you know just wants to rush you along to get the next dollar
He is wonderful! You are not just another person passing through his office. He actually remembers you and asks the right questions accordingly.
The office is extremely unorganized. I've made three appointments here. One was canceled, one was rescheduled for a later date, and one was rescheduled for later in the day, both of which I waited in a waiting room with 4-5 other people for 30-40 minutes because the doctor was "running late" because he "had a meeting"... both times. It appears that the receptionist consistently purposely over books the doctor. I would not recommend this place- go elsewhere where they respect your time.
Pleasent He was gentle Wish we talked longer about my problems Too short of a visit
He was a good listener and interested in putting together a treatment plan that worked for me.
Good for getting pharmacy refills, but that's about it. His primary mode of communication is email, but the emails never make sense. I usually have to ask for clarification 3 or 4 times.
He was fast, but to the point. I liked him and I'll definitely be back.
Very Good and straight forward, Didn't feel neglected
Nice, fast, and kind!
Very personable. Good sense of humor. Felt like a human, not just a doctor.
Absolutely terrible. Have not been able to reach this doctor for OVER a week! Front desk NEVER answers (just called before writing this review). I'm prescribed strong medication that needs to be kept up to date. I ran out and began feeling bad side-effects, as is normal. STILL COULD NOT REACH HIM. Had to finally go to my regular doctor. Will never go to Bhutia again. He does not care about his patients. Also failed to accurately explain medications he was prescribing.
He listened and was attentive. He also answered the questions my partner and I had about my condition. He was welcoming and understanding.
Very pleasant and easy to talk to, made me feel comfortable, grateful he took the time to answer all my questions I felt heard and supported, I'm excited to work with him!
I got on the wrong subway, and although I was very late after I called, they waited for me and saw me.
The office does not pick up the phone and does not respond to messages. Quick to prescribe medication without background info. Very unprofessional.
He's concise, listens well, ,to the point
Wonderful doctor. Clearly concerned, attentive, professional, smart. Office is great. Staff are accommodating. Highly recommended.
Listened to me, asked the right questions, very kind and helpful.
Very useful, efficient and productive meeting.
Dr. Bhutia did not communicate with me ever after my appointment. I was leaving town and needed prescriptions before I left. After six times of contacting his office and him, I recieved no response. This left me to seek out another doctor, pay for someone who did not take my insurance and the stress of organising a proper amount of doctor stuff upon leaving for the holidays. This was truly the worst experience ever and leaves me to wanting my hour commute and Co pay returned. Do not go here.
Very professional and attentive to all medical concerns
Dr. Bhutia is there to write a prescription. He is pretty awkward and doesn't really care about your problems or what you want so I wouldn't really recommend. Go somewhere else.
Short appointment, but I saw Dr. Bhutia because I mostly knew what was wrong already. He's a calm guy who wants you to be better.
I've been seeing Dr. Bhutia every month for a bit over one year since I moved to this area. I liked that I could get an appointment after 5pm and it was right around the corner from my apartment. Unfortunately though, his priority is not with the patient. I didn't mind a 3-minute appointment until he refused to see me every 3 months (as is standard when you've been stable on the same medications for nearly 10 years)- he insisted I come every 2 weeks even after i told him I could not afford that. Dr. Bhutia doesn't write scripts but instead sends your prescriptions over his computer to the pharmacy. That's cool, except when he sends all of your information to the pharmacy incorrectly. He routinely sends my Rx to the wrong pharmacy (today he sent it to the wrong state), and very often in the wrong dosages. Odd, considering he has all of this information on his computer if only he looked at it. Sometimes after my appointments I actually have to remind him to send my refills. I'm very unsatisfied with Dr. Bhutia and feel like he does not even care. I would not recommend him to anyone even if they just needed a quick refill. I'd give him 0 stars if I could.
He is the first psychotherapist that I felt listened to what I had to say and the problems I was facing. Thankful for meeting him.
Extremely pleasant and kind, with a very pleasant front desk person. Flexibility during appointments, a kind listening ear!!! <3
Dr. Bhutia immediately helped me through a difficult episode where I was having trouble receiving my medication. He listened patiently and attentively to my issues and responded effectively with compassion. Thank you, Dr. Bhutia.
Like others have said, the doctor is mostly just writing prescriptions.. not someone who really goes in-depth into what's going on. Not particularly emotive so it doesn't seem he cares much, although part of that may be his personality.
He is overall a good doctor. He is better than some and good overall in all respects. No complaints except that he is in unreachable by phone and email takes 24-48 hours for a response. If you require urgent immediate responsiveness I would not recommend him. Good luck
First time ever visiting a psychiatrist and Dr. Bhutia's soft and calm deamenor made me feel at ease right away. I was able to explain, without being interrupted or rushed, my personal issues and concerns. Once I explained all that was necessary for him to know, he then presented and thoroughly explained the steps I could take to work on and improve my problems. Great visit and will be back again soon!
He was the worst!!! When Iexplained o him that I work in a very busy Manhattan store and I get dehydrated, he old meto use ICE CHIPS!!!!! This is not ahospital!!!!
Good Doc, thanks for the help!
He was very prompt and courteous.
It was very informative he seemed very concern and ready to get me going on the best treatment options
Professional and caring. Too many patients in the waiting room though.
hes genuinely concerned and asks yuou for your bakcground. hes sweet and recommmeandations are alwasys well.
Terrible. He barely hear me out and I was seeking psychologic help! The clinic changed my schedule to an earlier time and I noticed that he spends an average of 10 mins with his patients. I don't think he listens to them careful and it almost seem like psychiatry is a joke just a money making machine. Get them, give them drugs, and get them out.
This doctor is great. He saw me before my appointment. He also gave good suggestions and feedback.
Dr. Bhutia was very empathetic and thorough. This was definitely a productive first-time visit. I would say he's definitely on of the best psychiatrists I've met! The office staff were friendly and there was a good vibe in the office itself (the 90s nostalgia soundtrack certainly helped). Highly recommended.
He was very nice. He is precise and respectful.
Front staff is completely incompetent and unhelpful. I made the journey to Queens for a first-time therapy session, a speciality clearly listed on ZocDoc, and to my dismay, this is simply a pill-mill joint. The could do nothing for me except attempt to hand me the business card of some other provider, but his lazy staff person already pathetically gave me the last card in the office. Yes, I'm OTT with this review, but this was a complete waste of time!
Does not really talk to patient about issues or how they feel. Appointments generally last 5 minutes. Prescribes medicine and then accepts your copay.
Great for medication management!
Dr. Bhutia is fantastic! You are not just another patient walking through the door, you are a person whom he wants to help.
Sweet and caring doctor Seems to really care about me.
Good communication and wait time!
I'm actually shocked to see how many good reviews Dr. Bhutia has received. He's a nice enough person but he is not a good psychiatrist. He's a prescription factory and has demonstrated zero interest in me as a person. You're in and out the door in about 2 minutes with RX in hand. The other thing, and this is a big thing, is he DOES NOT respond to emails or calls. I've never had a psychiatrist be so completely unresponsive. There have been a couple of times when I've had a question about my medication and I'll have to write him 3 or 4 emails over the course of a week before he'll write me back. Stay away from this guy and go into the city to find a real doctor.
If you want a script written, he's your guy. Otherwise not the best. I went with someone else eventually.
Great bedside manner! The front desk reception area is a bit loud though- when I came in the receptionist was blasting rock music and didn't turn it down. Not sure if that was to cover up any conversation coming from the office for confidentiality reasons or what.
Very quick to prescribe meds without actually doing much in the line of therapy.
IT WAS GREAT . NO WAIT EXCELLENT DOCTOR.
Dr, Namgyal Bhutia is a highly knowledgeable, kind and gentle Medical Expertise. He saw me even before the appointed schedule time. Very likable demeanor and personality.
He's awesome, real nice guy, very little wait and the front desk people are all nice. I definitely recommend him.
He seemed to listen and was very helpful.
I saw him once and he tried to put me on an intense anti-depressant. Not a fan of his medical approach
I think this doctor is kind and compassionate, but doesn't act professional under every circumstance. He made me feel uncomfortable on various occasions about my treatment, especially if I advocated what I wanted/didn't want. He made me question if his treatment plan well thought out to not only fit my best needs, but consider my physical medical needs as well. At times his office was very difficult to get in contact with, even after leaving many messages pertaining to appointments. When they would have to move appointments because the doctor was out of town or had another conflict, they did not understand the importance of it coinciding with your treatment/need to see the doctor in a certain time-frame. I think the worst part was that I was unable to see the doctor for other medical reasons and I never had a follow up, are you well call. Again, this doctor was not for me, but for people looking for direction and decisions from a doctor and not a partnership, he may be great
Great! He is a young and very professional!
Wonderful doctor. Seemed genuinely concerned for my wellbeing and is very easy to reach personally via email. I felt comfortable opening up to him and he immediately gave me the best course for me to take. Asked a lot of questions and listened to my answers intently. Empathized with me and didn't make me feel nervous, despite my feeling that way before the appointment. I think I've found a permanent place here. The office also has a calming effect. Will definitely go back. Highly recommend.
Extremely warm doctor. He listens to what you have to say, and doesn't brush you off or rush you. I must say I feel human when I speak to him. Not just a patient with a diagnosis. Highly recommend!
It was excellent!
He is a very kind and thoughtful doctor.
Always professional and attentive to details.
This was my first psychiatric appointment ever, and Dr. Bhutia was very understanding and made me feel comfortable.
Dr. Bhutia took us in right away. No wait! Very, very pleasant doc and listens. Beautiful and peaceful office. Very sympathetic. I must say he is he right person for the job. Excellent Service. GH
Dr Bhutia is excellent - knowledgeable and personable.
Very professional and easy to talk to. I was nervous going in, as this way my first appointment of this type, but I felt calm after only a short time.
Quick, to the point. Exactly what I wanted. Beautiful office. Convient to transportation, via train, bus or taxi. Love the Zoc Doc email. Was very on point, I came home and research something we had discussed. Would highly recommend.
I think he is great, really seemed interested in who I was and how I respond to medicine. I was under the impression (mistakenly) that he was more of a therapist, but I am happy to see him as my primary psychiatrist. I will keep going.
Very nice and understanding
Just excellent so happy to have met him.
He is very prompt and nice. He was a little soft spoken, but I felt that he listened to me well.
Dr. Bhutia was not particularly interested in being a clinician. Appointment times with him were at most 15 minutes. He gave me what I asked for without any difficulty, which is why I went to him to begin with.
Great Doctor! I've been a patient for ~ 6 months and my sister is now also switching over from her current doctor to Dr. Bhutia. Very courteous and professional- I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a good psychiatrist. And I love his office too!
He was very receptive and engaged in actual conversation not just a lecture. He made me feel like he really cared about my treatment and was concerned about improvement.
Excellent doctor that lets you talk and seems to understand your situation and has good recommendations. Will continue visiting his office!
Dr. Bhutia is a great doctor. He saw me right away, and took his time with me. He listened to me and got right to the point. I felt very comfortable with him and definitely will be seeing him in the future.
My experience with Dr Bhutia is always great. He takes the time to listen to any concerns I might have and asks questions to see how I'm doing.
It was fine, just one thing troubled me. I needed to take my meds. at the time. But they had no water fountain nor a water machine. It was also to dark in the office because they lowered the lights. I don't need a romantic setting. I have bad eye sight
One of the better psychiatrists I have met with.
Very polite, listened carefully, asked plenty of questions and did not rush the session. Available via phone and email.
Very professional and courteous. Concise questions, very concerned about whole person perception. Not at all judgmental. Very clean and comfortable office space. Very prompt!
He was great. Took his time to hear my issues.
He is very profecinal i highly recomended.
I was comfortable speaking with Dr. Bhutia right away, he has a compassionate approach and is up to date on modern psychiatry treatment. I highly recommend him!
Professional. To the point.
Dr. Bhutia is professional, shows interest in your well being and is an overall great psychiatrist. He responds quickly to emails and is easily accesible when necessary. I feel very comfortable with him as my doctor and would recommend him. I have continued with Dr. Bhutia since the first appointment I booked through ZocDoc.
Dr. Namgyal Bhutia was very flexible with my appointment and saw me once I arrived after subway repairs delayed my arrival. He was very easy to chat with and was genuine with his interest in my backlog and what would be a good medical approach. I will definitely see him again.
I have seen Dr. Bhutia a few times now and will continue to see him. He is patient, kind, and cared enough to touch base with me via email and telephone in between appointments. He cares about his patients well being.
I had no problem talking to him and could tell that he showed genuine interest in my problems. I can honestly say i am really glad i found him and will continue to see him in the future.
Prior to my scheduled appointment with Dr. Bhutia, I called to see if he could squeeze in sooner even though he was booked. Although I was unavailable during the options he gave me, speaking to him on the phone I could already tell he was ready and willing to help as best as he could. The office is comfortable and calm. He saw me promptly and I did not feel rushed at all. He listened carefully, asked questions, and directed me to the appropriate treatments/ solutions.
not personal at all. did not pick up or return phone calls when pharmacy needed verification. spent 150 for 10-15 minutes.
The office was very zen and comfortable and the receptionist was helpful. Dr. Bhutia heard me out and discussed medication options, and made me feel like I could get in touch if I had any issues with the prescription.
quick to prescribe medicine or refer to another person
I felt very rushed (in and out in less than 20 min)and he was quick to write up some pills that made me sick and depressed.
I was extremely late but Dr. Bhutia didn't scold me (my previous psychiatrist did). He was attentive and asked clarifying questions to understand my situation. I also appreciated his suggestion that I see a psychotherapist. He did it in a caring manner
Dr. Bhutia was professional, thorough and put me at ease. I was very hesitant to talk to someone new about the issues I face but he made me feel comfortable and his suggestions have really been helping. I would highly recommend Dr. Bhutia!
Dr. Bhutia was welcoming, non-judgmental, did not hesitate to answer questions even though they concerned other unrelated health matters, and was professional. He is also located close to the subway and there's been no wait in my visits.
Dr. Was very informative and knowledgeable understood my issues.
Great doc. Really takes the time to assess the problem and provides reasonable useful solutions
Had a pleasant experience but wasn't for me.
