About Dr. Naresh Ahuja

Dr. Ahuja performs a comprehensive range of general and bariatric surgeries using advanced laparoscopic and robotic-assisted techniques. With over 4,000 bariatric surgeries and thousands of other minimally invasive gastrointestinal procedures, he has helped thousands of patients since 2008 achieve their weight loss goals and regain optimal health and quality of life. He is committed to excellent surgical outcomes and ongoing postoperative care. Dr. Ahuja is recognized as one of the leading surgeons in Illinois. He developed and directed two well-reputed programs: the New Life Weight Loss Center, the region’s first MBSAQIP-accredited program at Herrin Hospital, and the Weight Management Program at Good Samaritan Hospital Mount Vernon. He is widely regarded as the first fellowship-trained surgeon to establish a comprehensive multidisciplinary weight loss surgery program in southern Illinois. Dr. Ahuja earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from Dow Medical College. He completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at Washington Hospital Center, Washington, DC, where he also pursued a trauma research fellowship. He then completed a fellowship in Bariatric and Advanced Laparoscopic Gastrointestinal Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA. He is a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
