Nasim A. Chowdhury, MD, FAAPMR, is a physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR) physician, or "physiatrist," at NewYork-Presbyterian Medical Group Queens and the Chief of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center, completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, and trained in Internal Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He holds a bachelor's degree from New York University. Before his tenure at NYPQ, he was at Weill Cornell Medicine, where he served as the Medical Director of Cancer Rehabilitation and staffed the institution's inpatient rehabilitation unit. Dr. Chowdhury provides a wide array of care to patients with musculoskeletal and neurological issues, including spinal cord and brain injuries, sports injuries, arthritis, stroke, and spasticity. He has a particular focus on cancer patient rehabilitation, utilizing cutting-edge technology such as high-resolution ultrasound for highly targeted treatments. Active in research, Dr. Chowdhury has published in peer-reviewed journals, written textbook chapters, been an invited speaker at numerous national and international conferences, lectured globally, served as a grant reviewer for the Singapore Ministry of Health, and is a peer reviewer for several leading journals. He has done pro bono medical work, including helping to start a platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment clinic in Tanzania. He also serves as a clinical preceptor for Cornell and Columbia medical students and as a mentor for students worldwide, culminating in his award as the inaugural "Michael O'Dell Mentor of the Year." With a multifactorial approach to patient care, Dr. Chowdhury utilizes traditional therapies such as medications and non-operative procedures..
