What should a new client know about working with you?
With 15+ years in outpatient and community behavioral health, and training as both a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I look at your situation from both a pharmacological and a therapeutic perspective, not just one or the other.
I take time to understand what you're experiencing, what matters most to you, and what you want to be different. I explain my clinical thinking in plain language, give you real options with clear tradeoffs, and we decide together on a plan that fits your actual life. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to start, my goal is for you to leave each visit with next steps that feel grounded and achievable.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Your first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, typically 60 minutes. We cover your current symptoms, relevant history, prior treatments and how they worked, medical factors, and current medications. I also complete a safety assessment and make sure I understand what you want to be different.
From there, we build a treatment plan together. For many patients that includes medication management, and I draw on my background as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor to incorporate psychoeducation and supportive strategies alongside it.
Follow-up visits are focused and efficient. We review what is improving, what still needs work, and any medication questions or side effects. I track your progress over time and adjust the plan as your needs evolve.
