Dr. Nathan Sharer, PsyD

Psychologist
MD
I appreciate the quote, "You don't have to be sick to get better." As a solution-focused therapist, I'll work with you to identify strengths that can be applied in unique ways to help alleviate current struggles and put you back on the path to the best version of you. This approach is effective for both long-standing issues such as chronic anxiety or depression, as well as more acute challenges including relationship difficulties and immediate life changes. Starting from session one, we collaborate on establishing goals for our work, develop customized tools you can use immediately, and then build on that foundation for lasting success. I hold a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Marshall University, an EdS in Counseling Psychology, and a Master's in Counseling Psychology from James Madison University. I am in year 5 of exclusively offering telehealth services, which is my preferred modality. I have expanded my specialties in mood disorders, trauma, and men's issues to also include evidence-based work in OCD and career counseling and development. I'm also passionate about helping couples rekindle or level up their relationships at whatever stage they are at.

What should a new client know about working with you?

With 15 years of experience as a clinical psychologist focused on in-person talk therapy, I've transitioned my practice to meet people where they are by developing an effective, solution-focused telehealth practice. Confidential, HIPAA compliant care is accessible through PsyPact in 40 states.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Research supports telehealth as being as effective as in-person therapy with the benefit of making our meetings accessible to you in the space you feel most comfortable. I leverage telehealth to meet people where they are and aim to develop 1-2 collaborative, solution-focused goals by the end of our initial assessment. Clients report that this goal-oriented approach creates fast, lasting change.

More information on payments and coverage

I am classified as an out-of-network provider for insurance companies. That means that I will provide documentation for you to seek reimbursement from your insurance company should they include that in your benefits. If you are interested in moving forward and want to seek reimbursement from your insurance company, you can call them and ask about their out-of-network reimbursement rates as they can often be substantial. I recommend you call the number on the back of your insurance card and verify your benefits (Out-Of-Network co-pay, deductible, co-insurance, out-of-pocket max). It can be helpful to ask specifically what portion they will cover for out-of-network billing of CPT codes 90791 and 90837.
