About Dr. Nathan Vela
Dr. Vela is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon who has been practicing Podiatry in South Florida since 2009. He specializes in treating foot, ankle and leg injuries in infants, children, teenagers and adults.
He graduated from Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery and completed his residency in foot and ankle surgery at the Bruce W. Carter Veterans Medical Center in Miami, FL. His interests include treatment of complex deformities in children and adults as well as sports related injuries and reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle. Dr Vela has served as a team physician for Pembroke Pines Charter High School and Archbishop Edward McCarthy High School. He is an Associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and a Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery.
Dr. Vela also completed his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Austin College in Sherman, Texas; and a Masters of Public Health at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, TX where he was also working on a Masters of Science Education before leaving for medical school. Originally from Corpus Christi, TX, Dr. Vela moved to South Florida to attend Barry University where he met his wife Dr. Alexandra Andes-Vela, DPM who also practices with Advanced Foot, Ankle & Wound Specialists, PA. They live in Plantation, FL with their two sons, Daniel and Austin, and three pets which include two dogs and a cat.
Dr. Vela enjoys being active in his local community and looks forward to continuing that involvement as well as keeping the people of South Florida active and healthy.

After searching for 3 hours I finally found Dr. vela and also took my insurance, took a chance after reading other reviews, and glad I found Dr. vela. Got an appt the next day after my searching around! He found the problem/pain right away answered all questions explained everything he was doing, and has great people skills which is an added bonus. I was nervous Bwtn the staff and Dr vela I was put at ease. I would highly recommend Dr. Vela and staff!!! Wonderful experience and didn’t have to wait long in the waiting room like 5 minutes. I have a follow up appointment in 3 weeks and very confident in Dr. Vela to take good care of my again. Excellent service and knowledgeable Podiatrist!

I had a 10:00 appointment. No one was in the office. Two other appointments came also .
I drove 60 miles round trip for this appointment . Three hours time plus gas. No I would not recommend this office. Funny the Dr wants to be compensated if I don't show but what happens when it goes the other way.

I went in to have a recheck on my toe after visiting an urgent care. Initial x-rays done at the urgent care were read as negative, however, I was still experiencing pain and swelling over two weeks later. I booked online early in the morning and was seen that afternoon. More x-rays showed that, in fact, my toe was broken. Dr. Nathan Vela had excellent bed side manners and gave me ways to be able to continue to protect my toe as it heals. Very grateful to him and his staff.

I needed to see a podiatrist urgently before traveling. I had excruciating pain from plantar fasciitis on my right foot.
I found Dr. Vela on Zocdoc and was able to book an appointment right away.
Dr. Vela was very nice and professional. He explained in great detail what he believed was causing my pain. We discussed treatment options and I’m very happy with the results.
I would highly recommend Dr. Vela to everybody.

I could tell that Dr. Villa had actually read the paperwork that I filled in before he came into the room. He was aware of my medical conditions and approached my problem with those in mind. He took the time to explain my condition and then treated it completely in a very short period of time.

This office is unprofessiona, the office manager was very rude. I never got a chance to meet the doctor because after being called to come in early for my appointment, I waited over an hour before I decided to leave. The doctor never came in to introduce himself nor did the office manager apologize for the long wait. She even told me there was no reason for or her staff to apologize for the long wait. I don't recommend this office. The doctor should've took time out and addressed the issue since there wasn't any other patience in the office other than the one he was dealing with and myself.
