Getting to know Nerisa Bryan

I initially worked as a registered nurse for many years before becoming a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. I hold a Master's degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Growing up, I witnessed people with mental illness being teased and physically abused on the streets by those around them. Seeing some of our most vulnerable populations mistreated in this way left an indelible impression on me. I believe that experience, in part, influenced my decision to enter a profession centered on caring for others. I am a passionate advocate for the mentally and physically disabled, as well as a champion of women's rights, LGBTQ rights, and civil rights.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I believe it is essential to establish trust with each client, thereby making them more likely to open up and share important details of their struggles. Each person’s story is unique and so I believe in meeting clients where they are while incorporating a holistic, nonjudgmental approach.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Nerisa is also solution oriented with respect to navigating insurance. She is very supportive, especially with my desire to decrease my reliance on meds.
Nerisa Bryan never asked me any questions about my concerns or why I reached out in the first place. She spent 19 minutes with me and declared she couldn't help me and hung up. No questions about symptoms, or any of the reasons I made the appointment. She told me my current endocrinologist was no good and I needed to find another. She has no idea who my current doctor is, nor what effort she puts in to helping me. My endocrinologist certainly exerts herself 100 times more than Nerisa did. She was the one that recommended I see a psychiatrist. My mistake was thinking some online Nurse Practitioner, who seemed annoyed to be there and who couldn't wait to get off the video call, was qualified as anything but a chart reader who spent 1/3rd of the time allotted and cashed the full one hour checks. I would strongly NOT recommend Nerisa Bryan. Nerisa made me feel uncomfortable, anxious & she seemed not at all interested in me or my mental health. She was unhelpful & disinterested.
