Getting to know Nicholas Garmon

I am a well-rounded dual board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of experience providing healthcare across various settings. I earned my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Family Nursing from the University of Memphis, followed by a Post-Master's Certificate in Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from East Tennessee State University. I have extensive experience utilizing medication management and brief supportive psychotherapy to treat ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, mood disorders, premenstrual mood dysphoric disorder, insomnia, adjustment disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder for adult clients. I provide same-week ADHD testing, a streamlined intake process, secure virtual appointments that adhere to HIPAA regulations, and a user-friendly portal system for direct client-provider communication without the need for contacting front desk staff or sending emails over unencrypted networks.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I enjoy educating my clients about the potential causes, signs and symptoms, theoretical pathophysiology, and scientific treatments related to psychiatric disorders. I firmly believe that knowledge is empowering and aids clients in developing a deeper comprehension of how to manage and cope with psychiatric disorders effectively.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first appointment will occur in a virtual setting and will primarily explore the client's social and psychiatric history and primary concerns. To facilitate a productive conversation, I ask clients to complete the intake paperwork before the scheduled appointment. The second appointment will occur in the office and commence with a brief physical examination, including a vital signs assessment. Additionally, during this visit, we will administer the QbCheck (ADHD testing). Depending on your circumstances, there may be recommended lab tests. For the third appointment, clients can either have a telemedicine session or an in-person meeting based on their preference. We will thoroughly review your testing results during this session and collaboratively create a personalized treatment plan. Follow-up appointments will be conducted via telemedicine or in-person, according to the client's preference.
