What should a new client know about working with you?

It's hard to find a good therapist!; you are not just seeking a service, you are starting a relationship. This can seem scary; but it is also an opportunity! Rarely in life do you enter a relationship with the expectation that you will need to be vulnerable or that you will be able to explore the dynamics of how you interact with the other person directly and frankly. Clients who are interested in exploring these dynamics or in learning strategies to cope with the challenges of day-to-day life are the ones who benefit most from my therapeutic approach. I draw on interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Relational Cultural Theory, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy in order to find a plan that works for your therapeutic goals and particular background. I believe in the importance of cultural humility, you are the expert on your experience; my job is to work with you to find a path to growth. I aim to bring a warm, empathetic presence to all my therapeutic work and am excited to get to know each person who walks (virtually) into my office (also virtual). I encourage you to email or contact me to set up a consultation and see if my practice is a good fit for you.My goal is to work with clients to identify barriers to engaging in their values. Together, we work to explore interpersonal relationships, including the therapeutic relationship to identify patterns that may be interfering with a fulfilling life. Exploration of unpleasant emotions is part of the process; it's my job to be comfortable with the uncomfortable and to build up your capacity to do the same. I also have a wide array of behavioral techniques for anxiety and depression management, drawing from CBT, ACT, and relational approaches.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I offer telehealth sessions via Zoom, and at present I do not offer in-person therapy sessions. I am out-of-network, but provide superbills for clients that they can submit for reimbursement from their insurance. Sessions are 50 minutes long each and tend to operate from a talk therapy dynamic, with specific exercises and behavioral interventions integrated according to each individual's goals and needs.
