Nichole Shearer, APRN

Adult Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
7300 Eldorado Pkwy, Ste 270, McKinney, TX
I am a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with over 17 years of experience. I earned my FNP degree from Baylor University and subsequently pursued my PMHNP certification at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA). This path was driven by a desire to address the growing mental health challenges I observed in primary care settings, and to better serve my patients’ holistic needs. My background in primary care offers me a unique perspective in treating both mental and physical health, recognizing that the two are deeply interconnected. I believe in a comprehensive, collaborative approach to care, working closely with counselors and other healthcare professionals to provide the most effective treatment for my patients. There is no “one-size-fits-all” solution to mental health, but a balanced approach combining medication, therapy, and newer treatments such as Spravato (esketamine) offers the highest potential for long-term remission and improved quality of life. Spravato, can be a game-changer for individuals who have not found relief from traditional therapies. When used alongside therapy and appropriate medication management, it can enhance treatment outcomes, offering patients a chance to regain stability and hope in their mental health journey. I’m committed to exploring all available resources and treatment options to ensure that each patient receives the most effective, tailored care. Throughout my career, I have encountered and navigated numerous personal and professional challenges, each contributing to the resilience and perspective I bring to my practice today. This experience has further reinforced my belief in the importance of a comprehensive, individualized approach to care. When I’m not working, you’ll find me spending time with my husband and our two children, ages 13 and 17, who are the heart of my world. I also love outdoor adventures, having grown up camping, rock climbing.
