Getting to know Nicole Bellisario

Hi there, my name is Nicole Bellisario. I am a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of San Francisco, and a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Clinical Nurse Leader. I have extensive experience in psychiatric nursing, working with diverse patient populations in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings. I have been a nurse for 10 years, and my absolute favorite part of my job has always been building genuine, therapeutic relationships with my clients. I provide both medication management and eclectic psychotherapy in caring for the mental health of women, men, adolescents, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, healthcare workers, first responders, and trauma survivors. My current focus is on clients with anxiety, depression, PTSD, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and ADHD. I am a subject matter expert on workplace violence prevention and deeply value the importance of therapeutic relationships with my clients, even through the most challenging times. I encourage my clients in authentic self-expression that paves the way for genuine connections and healing relationships. If you are having difficulties with communication, relationships, anger, low frustration tolerance, stress, grief, trauma, burnout, powerlessness, or self-esteem, I am dedicated to supporting your deep healing in a safe, relaxed, judgment-free space. *** Please note, I am a nurse practitioner and provide psychotherapy only in conjunction with medication management. If you are not ready to consider medication at this time, you should match with a therapist for therapy only. *** I am excited about our healing work together. Let's connect!

I want to warn people about this provider because I know how much therapy costs and how important mental health is. In general she spoke in an insensitive tone and didn't seem to be listening to me. I'm leaving a poor review because of how unprofessional she was in our second appointment. This is what happened. She asked me (in an impatient tone) "are you listening because you are playing with your hair". I told her that this is just something I do. She then said "repeat what I just said". At this point it was obvious that she was frustrated so I asked her about it. She claimed that she wasn't so I repeated what she said. I missed the last point she made so this continued to frustrate her. I told her that this conversation was making me anxious. She then said "This is exactly what I'm talking about, you have anxiety and you need help." I said "I think this would make any person nervous". She then told me my personality traits were alarming and defensive.
Nicole was extremely helpful and kind. I felt like all my issues were addressed and immediate assistance was given in a very professional manner.

I had a great first appointment with Dr. B. I got in quickly and was sent the pre-appointment surveys right away to have an effective first session. She is a great listener and asks the right questions. I’m looking forward to my next appointment.
