Nicole is a board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate and personalized mental health care within our community. She earned her Master's in Adult Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing from National University. Nicole completed the Nurse Practitioner Residency Program at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System in North Las Vegas, NV, in 2024. Prior to advancing to a psychiatric nurse practitioner role, Nicole devoted 14 years as a board-certified psychiatric registered nurse in both inpatient and outpatient settings, catering to diverse patient populations. Nicole's focus is on medication management for adult patients facing a range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, PTSD, depression, mood disorders, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, and substance use disorders. She is committed to a patient-centered care philosophy, which emphasizes the active involvement of individuals in their mental health journeys. Nicole's approach fosters a collaborative environment where she and her patients work together to make informed decisions, carefully balancing evidence-based treatments with individual preferences and safety considerations to ensure the delivery of the highest quality care.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I have dedicated over 15 years to various roles within the mental health field, and during this time, I’ve encountered a wide range of experiences. I want you to know that I am here to listen without judgment, so please don’t feel embarrassed about sharing your
story with me. While it’s helpful for me to have as much information as possible for effective treatment planning, I will always respect your boundaries and never pressure you to disclose anything you’re not ready to share.
Your active participation in treatment is essential, as your recovery is a collaborative effort between us. I will strive to incorporate your preferences into our treatment plan, though there may be times when that isn’t feasible. My primary aim is to support your
recovery through evidence-based practices that are both safe and effective.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
During our first visit, we will take the time to get to know each other better. We’ll review your psychiatric history, identify priority areas for treatment, and begin developing a personalized treatment plan. If you choose to start psychiatric medications, my approach will be to introduce them individually and titrate the doses gradually. This
strategy helps to minimize potential side effects and allows us to identify the lowest effective doses tailored specifically to your needs. If you prefer psychotherapy, either in addition to or instead of medications, we will discuss the various options available to
you.
