About Dr. Nidal Hasan
Nidal Hasan, MD, specializes in the treatment of diabetes, obesity, and hormonal disorders. Getting started means we must work together to create a management plan that's right for you.
Diet is the cornerstone of all therapeutic regimens for type 2 diabetes. Proper dietary choices are important for all people with diabetes. Unfortunately, dietary habits are the most difficult to change. Therefore, dietary management must be an ongoing process that seeks to improve compliance through continuous education and monitoring of progress.
Our specialty is Internal Medicine; Endocrinology, Diabetes & Metabolism. Dr. Hasan earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Damascus Faculty of Medicine, completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Georgetown University, and pursued a fellowship in Endocrinology at the University of Illinois, Chicago. I appreciated that all of my insurance documents were uploaded and I knew what I was paying. The staff were friendly and the office waiting rooms, bathroom, and exam rooms were clean and well lit. Dr. Hasan listened to my needs and made several suggestions and options for labs and possible problems that could be the cause of my visit. I feel like I'm in great place and he is gonna help me in my medical journey.

I drove an hour to get to this office, I was greeted with the front desk and everything seemed to be fine. Reception brought me to the oversized room, took my blood pressure and heart rate. After 10 minutes I look out the window and see a guy in a MD lab coat, gather food from I assume a DoorDash deliverer, after 20 more minutes the same guy comes in and starts asking me about my health, after 15-20 mins, dr hasan comes in and checks my heartbeat and just tells me I have PCOS and diabetes. No bloodwork, no test, no exam. Just visually diagnosed me.
Dr Hasan seems knowledgeable and friendly, but his knowledge is dated. He is stuck on knowledge that all health is dependent on weight. If you’re overweight, and this idea that any and all issues that you’re dealing with is purely because of your weight. This has been proven to be the most frustrating and invalidating things about MD’s these days. They don’t take the time to listen and don’t care.

I wasn’t aware the appointment was telehealth until I got to the office and was told the doctor was working from home. The office was also not aware of my appointment until the day of because they hadn’t checked their ZocDoc appointments. I had to give all my health info over the phone as opposed to them using the forms I submitted online. I had my bloodwork results sent to the office weeks before my appointment and they didn’t have them, so I had to read my results over the phone. Frustrating experience overall.

The appointment was very short and I’m not confident with the consultation. I need to get a second opinion from another endocrinologist because I’m not certain that what he is suggesting is best for me. He wasn’t very specific with the medicine guidelines and the receptions were rude and seemed annoyed that they needed to answer the phone.

Dr. Hasan went out of his way to meet with me even when my internet connection was a problem. He kept calling until were able to connect. In addition, he listened intently and took time to ask as well as answer questions. He was quite thorough and ordered tests I have been trying to get done for years!

I’m very disappointed. I had an appointment nearly one month ago with Dr. Hasan. In the video call, he was very attentive and spent a great deal of time with me, listening to my concerns. He formatted a possible plan for us to follow depending on how my blood panel labs would turn out.
The lab form that was emailed to me was not accepted by any lab that I went to since his signature kept getting cut off when printed. I asked him if he can please send it as another document or format and he obliged, but it still did not work. I went to a local QuestLab who took my blood panel according to his order but notified me that they will not send it into the lab until they can get clarification over his signature on the order. Now it’s been over one month and I have had no luck in receiving help with this problem or results from my blood panel. I never seem to have luck finding an endocrinologist.

Dr. Hasan is a genuinely caring, and extremely knowledgeable due to his combo degrees of Endo, and personal care physician, so he can provide better insights than just a regular Endo doctor, and he has a more all-body insights into cause and effect. Great listener, does not rush you, and great bedside, office visit manner,,, worth the trip to his 87th street office, even if not good neighborhood.
