About Dr. Nijah Burris

Dr. Nijah Burris is from Union City, GA, and the oldest of four siblings. Growing up outside the city, she fondly remembers tubing at Lake Lanier, playing volleyball, and spending time with her cousins. Originally, she matriculated at Spelman College to pursue biomedical research, but family tragedies shifted her pursuits to medicine. Dr. Burris graduated from medical school and completed her family medicine residency at Morehouse School of Medicine. During her journey, she has served as chief resident, performed community-based research on the association between anxiety and epilepsy in African American participants, promoted awareness of psychosocial barriers amongst North African and Middle Easterners in medicine, and volunteered at the HEAL Clinic serving the underserved communities. Dr. Burris’ areas of interest include preventive medicine, health equity, and community outreach. Lastly in her free time, she enjoys traveling, DIY projects, trying different cultural foods, true crime podcasts, visiting any beach, and hanging out with family and friends. She is excited to join Nextclin and continue the mission of providing quality health care and promoting healthy lifestyles.
