What should a new client know about working with you?
Most of my patients are recovering from past difficulties, currently dealing with significant stressors, trying to maintain, or simply finally addressing their mental health. I focus on improving or managing difficult moods, symptoms, and behaviors and mostly see a significant difference by the next follow-up. If not, my patients know that I'm the gentle and positive support towards their healing process. My style is person-centered empowerment, improving the thought process or overall quality of life.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
A typical session involves gathering comprehensive information about a person's baseline and overall functioning. During this phase, I will ask about their reason for seeking help, current symptoms, past psychiatric history, medical history, etc. and any other relevant psychosocial factors. To note the severity of symptoms and to track progress over time, I also use rating scales and assessment forms. Towards the end of the session, I will discuss treatment options, goals, etc. and that may include medication management, psychotherapy (talk therapy), lifestyle modifications, or other solutions. Additionally, the client should feel comfortable asking questions and expressing any concerns they may have about sessions or the process.

The only complaint I have about this provider is that the intake paperwork is very outdated and difficult to fill out. My friend also sees this provider and says they had many technical difficulties getting the online paperwork to submit.
That being said, Nikka Jones is a great listener and I appreciate the time she took with me to fully understand my issues and help me get on the medication I needed.
