About Dr. Nilesh Mehta

“I counted many physicians among my family members when I was young, so I had early exposure to the life of a physician. I was often able to join them at work in the hospital and learn from them. I was extremely fascinated with gastroenterology as a medical student and as a resident in internal medicine. The work of many clinicians and researchers in gastroenterology is a constant source of inspiration to me. It combines an analysis of procedures and medical knowledge that is unique.
I completed my medical degree at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, Indore, followed by an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia University, Harlem Hospital Center. I further specialized with a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the State University of New York, Upstate Medical University.
Today, I most enjoy the basic scientific research and clinical trials that will advance not only our knowledge of gastroenterology but also the quality and effectiveness of our patient care. I believe in delivering nothing but the best care and service for everyone. Patients need the warmth and comfort of being treated by someone they can trust.”
In his spare time, Dr. Mehta enjoys tennis, ping pong, family time, and photography.

My appointment was made for 12 pm and I filled out all of my preappointment paper work before arriving. I didn’t have to fill anything out once I arrived at my appointment so this was supposed to save me some time. I did not see Dr. Mehta until 2 hours past my appointment time. He was a good doctor. I’m just extremely annoyed at the nearly 2.5 hours I spent in office. What is the point of making an appointment?

This was my first visit to a GI doctor. I’ve been having stomach problems for the last few months and picked this doctor simply because he had the soonest availability to see me of all the GI doctors listed on zocdoc.
I’m in and out of doctors offices all day everyday because I’m a medical sales representative so I’m used to interacting with doctors and their staff. I cannot tell you how impressed I was with the level of service - first from Victoria - a medical assistant, then from Dr. Mehta himself and finally from the nurse who drew my blood. I was seen promptly, had all of my questions answered and genuinely felt cared for here. It was strange, I remember thinking while I was there - whoever trained this office did a wonderful job. Dr. Mehta helped to put my mind a little more at ease about getting a colonoscopy, which isn’t an easy thing to do. I never felt rushed and really appreciated their level of professionalism throughout my visit.

The doctor was nice and knowledgeable, but very late. The office insists that I sign a form agreeing to pay a fee if I don't show up for the appointment--do I get a discount when it takes over an hour to be seen?
Make sure you don't eat before your appointment and bring your covid vax card, or they will waste your time and make you come back.

When I arrived the office had no record of my appointment (which I booked through Zocdoc same day due to an emergency - can't fault the office for this in my opinion) and despite being incredibly busy they still fit me in. The entire staff was super helpful and kind and Dr. Mehta was able to figure out my issue quickly. Even though I was likely a disruption to an already busy day no one made me feel that way. I really can't thank them enough.
