About Dr. Nisha Gajendra
Nisha Gajendra (pronounced “Knee sha/Ga hen dra ”), MD, is dedicated to the wellbeing of her patients. She started practicing in the United States in 2014 with clinical interest in primary care, urgent care and geriatrics. Dr. Gajendra manages adults with chronic medical conditions like Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, High Cholesterol, Osteoarthritis, and helps manage acute illnesses, perform physicals, well woman exams, Annual Wellness visits. She is a Board Certified Family Medicine Physician.
Dr. Gajendra earned her undergraduate degree in medicine and surgery and completed her doctor of medicine degree in Mumbai, India. She completed her residency at the Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Medicine in Springfield, IL, with a focus in family medicine. Dr. Gajendra also received a fellowship in geriatric medicine.
In addition to English, she is fluent in Hindi, Telugu and Marathi.

On the website, it says that they take United healthcare an hour before my appointment. I got a call stating that the doctor was out of my network and I didn’t have out of network coverage and I would have to pay for everything out-of-pocket, even though on the United healthcare website where I found the doctors information said I was in network with the doctor. I don’t like last minute. The lady claimed that someone contacted me on Friday, but I have the voicemail and it was never said that my insurance was not accepted. It was saying that I needed to upload my insurance by today very unprofessional and unorganized no sympathy whatsoever when told that I’ve been out of my medication’s because my other PCP Quit

Today was my first time seeing a doctor in years, and while it can be a little scary, this experience was the complete opposite. From the moment I walked in, the doctor and staff made me feel extremely comfortable and cared for. She and her staff was warm, friendly, and took the time to really listen to me.
Unlike past doctors who seemed rushed and focused only on getting through the appointment quickly, this doctor was genuinely attentive. She asked detailed, thoughtful questions to make sure every aspect of my health was covered. I truly felt seen, heard, and cared for especially being African American.
This appointment has completely changed how I view going to the doctor, and I’m so grateful to have found someone who takes their time and makes patient care a top priority.
