I really liked Dr. Perez for medication management. She asked good questions and really listened to my responses. She was very direct with her policy of not supporting Emotional Support Animals, which was disappointing.

Dr. Perez was friendly and professional. She manage to listen to my concerns even when I impulsively interrupted her mid sentence. She was patient and shared helpful background information about my condition and possible treatments. I lookforward to continuing to see Dr. Perez and feel like I have worthy ally to combat my condition. At this point I highly recommend Dr. Perez if your seeking pyschiatric support.

Dr. Perez is concise and caring, she seems to really take what you feel and think about your own condition into consideration and is comforting if the need for comfort should arise. Her appointments are easy to book and she's anexcellent listener. Finding a psychiatrist is hard, especially a good one, so I'm going to stick with her for a while!

As usual, Dr. Perez was very thoughtful and thorough in her questions. Dr. Perez offers a very holistic perspective, with medication being just one aspect of a treatment plan. I have never had a psychiatrist like Dr. Perez who is sogenuinely concerned for my well-being and ask thought-provoking questions. I continue to whole-heartedly recommend Dr. Perez.

I'm so sad to be writing this, but I fell I have no choice. I've been seeing Dr. Perez for a couple of years. I enjoyed our talks. This year my insurance changed in the middle of the year (work switchedinsurance mid year). I thought I had updated all of my information through ZocDoc. My last session was in October right after I lost my job. I booked an appointment for the beginning of Dec for a follow up (on my husband's insurance) and Laina (her assistant) reached out to me the day of and notified me that the insurance info I entered was not in network. She also needed my insurance I had for October. After a couple of emails back and forth Laina sends me a bill. After asking about it she said it was for the October session as my insurance didn't cover it. Having lost my job and I'm on a single income I told them that I needed time to pay it. That was Dec. 8th. Fast forward to today (Dec 14th) Laina reaches out today stating that the bill is past due and I need to pay 50% now and 50% in 30 days... WAIT... I just received this a couple days ago.... They are not willing take responsibility that they dropped the ball on getting me billed. They contacted me the day of to say I wasn't in network and then didn't follow up about my last appointment and needing info until two months later, now its past due... What logic is that!?!... This has caused me to go into panic attacks and triggered my depression once again. I wasn't asking them to waive the fee... I was asking for time since I just learned about it... HORRIBLE... This shows me that Dr. Perez is only in it for the money which greatly disappoints me. She was cc'd on every email.

Stay vigilant! she asked if I drank alcohol multiple times, she couldn't accept that I told her "no" over and over again. She presented an assumption of me of being promiscuous possibly because I have been diagnosed with bipolar. I lovemy wife and have never cheated on her or anyone else, my wife is too caring and loving for me to do that.

If you have any issues with or history of addiction, this is not the psychiatrist for you. My consultation went fine. She took a lot of notes and started me on a new medication. Everything seemed okay. However, on my follow-upvisit, when she learned that on a particularly stressful day - one single day - I'd taken more anti-anxiety medication than prescribed by my last doctor, she stopped me right there. Didn't care about the circumstances, said she could no longer treat me. Recommended I find an addiction psychiatrist and gave me a post-it note with another doctor's name on it (who is not even a psychiatrist), and one month's refill of the new med she started me on. So now I am scrambling to find another in-network psychiatrist, while being basically unsupervised on a new medication.

Dr. Nissa Perez was very professional but also made me feel very comfortable. She has a nice, calm, relaxed and friendly demeanor and made me feel like I was not being judged. She listened carefully and asked appropriate questions. I leftfeeling happy that I went through with seeing a psychiatrist. Dr. Perez is the best psychiatrist I've ever had. I'm grateful for her every time I visit. Dr. Perez is generally interested in helping her patients and not just looking to prescribe a medication. She definitely encourages her patients to dowhatever they can to better themselves in terms of self-care. Sometimes the answer, as I have learned, is medication combined with other techniques, like meditation. For someone who is used to the typical psychiatric experience of a doctor writing prescription after prescription after prescription, your experience with Dr. Perez will be different and very refreshing. Keep an open mind.

My first appointment I was lead back by the Dr. who was not wearing shoes which I did not like, but let it pass. I noted that she was more attentive to her laptop than me, but figured she diligently takingnotes. Appointment after appointment she payed more attention to typing (very loud) than even looking at me. She also ended sessions early. She questioned my symptoms because I present well and was not disheveled. This Dr is great when you are taking your medication and all she has to do is check in and give a refill. She obviously has counter-transference when clients don't take their meds or are inconsistent. She will talk to you in a high, nastily, demeaning voice and talk to you about responsibility. If you need someone supportive, encouraging, or want someone to look at you this is not the Dr. for you.

Initially, Dr. Perez was nice and easy to talk to, but she always kept me waiting at least 10 mins and then would try to end the sessions early which made me feel ripped off since I'm literally paying for hertime. I continued seeing her until my insurance changed and she was no longer in-network for me. My biggest issue was when I was still trying to find a new psychiatrist but needed a refill on my antidepressants; she refused because I hadn't seen her in awhile. I tried explaining that not only could I not afford an out of pocket visit, but I had already run out of my meds, been off them for a few days, and started experiencing SEVERE withdrawal, but I was still told I needed to book an appointment. I finally decided to bite the bullet and make an appointment but she was booked for 3+ weeks, meaning she expected me to off my antidepressants cold turkey for a month. I find this to be completely heartless and irresponsible and it became clear to me that she cares more about her own liability rather than the well being of her patients.

Do not see this Psychiatrist. I was a patient for 6 months, and the only reason why I continued to have her treat me was because it was difficult for me to see another psychiatrist that would take my insurance. Myfirst visit with Dr. Nissa was pleasant, and I really thought she would help me with my anxiety and depression. As my visits with her continued, she would literally raise her voice at me because I wasn’t getting better, according to her expectations. I found myself apologizing to her for not making progress quickly. After speaking to my therapist about several visits I had with Dr. Nissa, my therapist that has been practicing for over 30 years was shocked at the way I was treated. For example, one incident, Dr. Nissa yelled at me for being sick and cancelling my appointment with her, even when I did give her 48hr. notice. Dr. Nissa said to me “well if you were sick, why didn’t you go to the doctor?”. I said, I don’t always go to the doctor if I’m not feeling well, especially if it seems to be a cold. This answer wasn’t good enough for her. I honestly felt like she did not care about my treatment, only about billing my insurance company. She prescribed me Prozac, and when I told her I wanted to go on something else because I was developing a rash, she accused me of not wanting to take medication. I final told her, I don’t feel I should seek treatment from her anymore. She did apologize for making me feel like a child, but her temper continued during my future visits. If you continue to read other reviews of Dr. Nissa, I am not the only one that felt this way.

Discussed past problems with getting medicine authorized. Only reliably effective method is to hand carry a paper prescription from doctor to pharmacy. Daughter was frustrated because she did not feel she learned anything new to help her, just things she had already heard before that did not seem to help her current anxiety issue. Felt her issue with Mom's death was beyond doctors ability to help.

She seemed to take into consideration everything that was going on. I also liked that she took into consideration my feelings towards treatments and tried to find the best solution for me. She pretty much hit the nail on the head.Since seeing her, I have seen some improvement which is great. The only downside is that is you do not cancel within 48 hours, you are responsible for the full payment. However, you know this prior to booking appointments, so just ensure that you make your appointments a priority and book them on a day you are positive you can make it. If for some reason you have the slightest of inkling that you cannot make it, then cancel before the 48-hour window. Other than that, she is an excellent psychiatrist. I trust her with my health and would recommend her to anyone.

I'm not sure where to begin... She is practicing medicine here in San Jose now... I am very emotional and very upset about this doctor's behavior and lack of compassion given her position. I don't know if there is a codeof ethics regarding mental health, but I would be very careful when using her. She has seemed very cold at times, and now on 2 separate occasions, has told me I don't take responsibility. I have been out of a domestic violence relationship for almost 1 year now. After seeing a therapist that diagnosed me with complex PTSD, I had a very severe anxiety attack at work when a customer threatened me. I was not very interested in medication, but I thought Dr. Perez's website, with a "heart shaped rock" meant she was a doctor of medicine with a loving soul. I would find out I was wrong. After putting me on a medication that my body didn't agree with, she blamed me for not notifying her earlier. Then I explained I had to cancel an appointment with her and her policy is 48 hours prior. I emailed her 46 hours prior and she informed me I shouldn't miss my appointment. I had an appointment with my son's social worker, that I could not miss, but she still charged me a cancellation fee for missing the visit. I realize she is running a business, thus my attempt to cancel prior. She continued to send 3 reminder emails to inform me that I had an invoice due. When she releases information regarding medical info, she charges each time. She took me on knowing I was suffering from depression from losing my 8 year old daughter in a custody dispute and the DV, and survived being in a highly abusive relationship. This last week I attempted to schedule appointments with her to return back to work on July 19th. Her website was showing her earliest availability was August 15th. She uses a 3rd party company ZocDoc for appointments, so I just assumed she was on vacation. I emailed her and she responds by saying I need to pay the invoice for the cancelled visit before I can schedule another appointment. Prior to this, I explained to her that my stepfather had just died while staying in my home. I also was very clear I would pay it. She told me she rescheduled it, after I was on the phone with this 3rd party appointment setting company. They said that she reached out to them to ask them to call me and help me schedule online. They also didn't understand why she wouldn't do it herself. I just see where this all is focused on. Money. I find it very strange that a doctor who is dealing with people's mental health, would chose to cause more stress on someone who is already in a not good place. After the confusion with the appointment setting and making me pay the invoice for my missed appointment, Dr Perez called me this evening to tell me again "I don't hear you taking responsibility" and that she will not be seeing me anymore for treatment. So... after a few tears and after this feeling of being used for money, since I have no insurance for mental health, I would really like to warn people about this doctor and her lack of interest in her patients. I hope if you do get treatment from her she follows through and continues treatment as a psychiatrist should, Now she's left me on 6 days left of medication and told me to continue treatment but has not made sure I have medication. Very sad that there are people practicing medicine like this and they can give and take away services without any reason. Please beware if you want to have continued treatment. I am planning a funeral and helping my family through grief and this doctor has just left another damaging impact on my life.
