Getting to know Dr. Nissa Keyashian

I (she/her) did my undergraduate studies at UCLA in psychobiology and then attended USC for medical school. I completed residency at the UCLA/San Fernando Valley Psychiatry Training Program and I am a Board Certified Psychiatrist.
I am passionate about working with adults to improve their emotional health and well-being. I have a strong background in both psychopharmacology and psychotherapy, including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral and mindfulness. I believe in treating the whole person and I very much enjoy working collaboratively with my patients on a journey towards a healthy and fulfilling life.
I have a lot of experience and enjoy working with people with anxiety and mood disorders. Other particular interests of mine include women's mental health and working with people dealing with OCD, using both exposure response prevention, mindfulness and medication management.

I have had a positive experience with Dr. Keyashian's practice. Her expertise and the promptness of care have been commendable. Her treatment approach and patient handling has been effective and thoughtful, contributing significantly to my health.
However, I feel it's important to note an administrative aspect that might need attention. In instances where I missed an appointment due to unforeseen circumstances, the response from the office, regarding cancellation policy, felt rigid. While I respect the importance of adhering to scheduled times and the associated charges, a more empathetic approach in communication would be appreciated. This includes offering a courtesy call if a patient is a few minutes late, which could prevent any unintended missed appointments.
Aside from the administrative detail, my experience has been positive. Dr. Keyashian provides quality care. For future patients, I recommend setting sufficient reminders to avoid noted issues with missed appointments.
