My name is Dr. Nkwachioma Nwosu, and I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (DNP, PMHNP-BC) dedicated to fostering mental health and well-being. With a passion for providing compassionate care, I specialize in serving clients facing a variety of mental health challenges. I earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from North Carolina Central University in Durham and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Maryville University of St. Louis. My clinical interests include managing and treating patients with a wide range of mental health concerns, such as ADHD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, dementia, addiction, mood disorders, personality disorders, and anger management.
My mission is to positively impact the lives of those I serve. I work with individuals of all ages-from children and adolescents to adults and seniors. As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), I provide mental health care and treatment for a diverse range of clients across the lifespan who are experiencing psychiatric and mental health challenges. I assess, diagnose, and manage the mental health needs of individuals, families, and groups. I prescribe medications, offer psychotherapy, and coordinate comprehensive care. My clinical interest is in managing and treating patients with a wide range of mental health concerns, including Schizophrenia, Bipolar disorders, Depression, Anxiety disorders, PTSD, Dementia, Addiction, mood disorders, personality disorders, and Anger management. What is your typical process for working with clients?
In a visit with me as your Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), clients can anticipate a welcoming and structured experience focused on understanding their unique concerns. The session typically involves introductions, a discussion of personal and mental health history, goal-setting, and collaborative treatment planning. We will work together to assess symptoms, formulate a treatment plan, and address any questions or concerns the client may have. The session aims to establish a trusting and transparent therapeutic relationship, ensuring clients feel informed, supported, and actively involved in their mental health journey.

I have never been treated so poorly by a mental health professional or any other medical professional. She accused me of trying to get medication for my daughter because we happen to be on the same meds. But different doses. I had to send her pics of my medication bottles and info and phone number of my pharmacy so she could make sure I was on my medications.Then she got the doses incorrect. I had to have my pharmacist call her to explain the effects of not having the correct dose. I have never had to prove that I’m on the medication that I have been taking for years. Throughout the appointment I was constantly having to defend myself. I was very upset. I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND HER.

Dr. NK was absolutely amazing. From the moment I called her before the appointment, she made me feel comfortable and cared for. She actually picked up the phone herself and took the time to answer all my questions — that alone already made a great first impression.
When I arrived early for the appointment, she was already there a few minutes before our scheduled time. The visit itself was smooth, efficient, and thorough. She really listened to everything I said and explained everything clearly in a way that made me feel heard and understood. I never felt rushed or overlooked.
This was one of the best experiences I've had with a doctor in a long time, and I will absolutely continue to work with her moving forward.

My experience with Nkwachioma has been amazing! She is supportive, encouraging, and always does her best to meet your needs. I have had other psychiatrists before, but she is one of the few to show genuine care. I have been battling a lot of mental health problems for a while and after years of trying different medications, she was able to find the best fit for me! From my first appointment to now, I feel like a whole new person with her care. I can handle any situation life throws at me and stay positive which is a miracle for me. I definitely recommend her to anyone struggling with mental health, she will ensure you gain the mental strength you deserve :)
