Getting to know Dr. Norman Severe
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name is Dr. Norman Severe, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist who has worked in the local San Diego community for over 20 years. I earned my PsyD in Mental Health Counseling from Alliant International University, San Diego. For the past 22 years, I have devoted my private practice to serving the mental health needs of children, adolescents, and families in need of therapeutic and psychological support. I believe everyone can achieve great things in their lives by recognizing their strengths, working through struggles, and overcoming obstacles by persevering and never giving up.
I specialize in the treatment of Anxiety, Depression, and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder in children and adolescents, as well as adults who have experienced trauma related to abuse, car accidents, and/or witnessing or being exposed to life-threatening situations. I also specialize in treating individuals who identify as Neurodivergent and/or have specific learning differences.
What should a new client know about working with you?
Upon meeting with you for the first session, it is my goal that you will feel comfortable and safe with the therapy process and that you feel heard and understood. I work with patients from a patient/client-centered approach to help them work through any current mental health issues, struggles or challenges in their life, at their own pace.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits
