Getting to know Obiageli Omeke
My path to becoming a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner has been guided by more than a decade of diverse nursing experience and a deep passion for whole-person care. After earning my BSN from Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi, I gained clinical expertise across multiple specialties, including Cardiac Step-Down, Telemetry, PCU, Emergency Medicine, Oncology, Rehabilitation, Home Health, and Psychiatry. I also served as a Director of Nursing, where I developed strong leadership skills and a broad perspective on patient care systems.
Driven to focus more intentionally on mental health, I earned my MSN in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Walden University and became a board-certified PMHNP-BC, licensed in Texas, Nevada, New Mexico, and Kansas. In addition to managing my private practice, I currently provide care at two county psychiatric hospitals in Texas, where I assist individuals diagnosed with severe and persistent mental illnesses.
My philosophy of practice emphasizes compassion, cultural sensitivity, evidence-based treatment, and collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. I am committed to supporting individuals of all ages with dignity, respect, and holistic care—empowering them on their journey toward healing, resilience, and wellness.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I have several years of experience working with all populations, including inmates with complex and acute mental issues. Working in a county public psychiatric ER enhanced my skills in managing the needs of patients presenting with severe mental health crises and providing immediate crisis intervention
My extensive experience and knowledge in acute care medicine and psychiatry have helped me tremendously in determining when collaborative care is needed to deliver integrated mental health care to my patients. Therefore, we will discuss your psychiatric, family, social, present, and past medical history and how they may have impacted your mental health. I foster an atmosphere where my patient feels heard and that their needs are prioritized in terms of mental health.
Medical Leave Policy for New Patients:
Please note that medical leave requests can only be approved by our clinic once a patient has been under the care of one of our providers for a minimum of 90 days. This policy ensures that we have sufficient clinical information to provide accurate and responsible medical documentation.
If you are a new patient in need of urgent or immediate medical leave, we kindly ask that you request this documentation from your current Primary Care Provider (PCP) or a licensed medical practitioner who is currently overseeing your care.
Once the 90-day care requirement has been met at our clinic, we will be happy to assist with any renewals or extensions of medical leave as appropriate.

What is your typical process for working with clients?
My method of providing psychiatric treatment is adaptable and integrative with your primary care physician, psychologist, neurologist, and therapist to achieve the ideal balance between the body and mind for a fulfilling existence. My goal in providing individualized patient care is to consider the patient's preferences and worries when providing treatment.
One of my core values is responsiveness; I take action quickly, thoughtfully, and effectively. This is not limited to making sure that you are seen within 24 hours of consultation, your response to a "personalized" treatment plan, but also my devotion to making sure that you have access to services that will help you throughout your healing journey.
To help my clients comply, stay consistent, and see reasons why it's important to embark on this liberating healing journey, I involve my clients in the plan of care. After discussing the reasons for a suggested treatment, we will determine the best action plan. If CBT is included, we will explore how thoughts affect emotions, and I will teach you how to resist negative thoughts for better emotional health. You will feel cared for, heard, seen, and part of the decision-making for a positive treatment outcome.
