Mental health disorder is a major health care issue in the United States, with nearly one in five U.S. adults living with a mental illness, according to the National Institute of Mental Health (2022). My objective is to provide early diagnosis and treatment of mental illness to clients, aiming for early remission or reduction of symptoms so they can function at their best. To treat addiction disorder, I employ an evidence-based collaborative care approach to provide individualized treatment to my clients. I also provide primary prevention of addictive disorders through individual and group addiction prevention education. I pride myself as an agent of social change, willing to work with community members where I live to advocate for people with mental illness, with the goal of eliminating public stigmatization of those affected. I hold a Master’s in Nursing from Walden University, a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland, and an Associate’s degree from Prince George’s Community College.
