Getting to know Odiri Akushe

When your mind feels noisy or heavy, you deserve care that feels calm and clear. I am a psychiatric nurse practitioner who works with adults facing depression, anxiety, ADHD, bipolar disorder, PTSD, trauma related stress, and other mood concerns. I also provide affirming, respectful care for LGBTQ+ adults. My decision to specialize in psychiatry was personal. Someone close to my family struggled, and I wanted to truly understand what helps during hard seasons. I take time to learn your story, what you have tried, and what has not worked, then use a less is better approach to medication whenever possible.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our first visit we will review your symptoms, history, and goals, with plenty of space for you to talk. I focus on shared decisions and clear education, so you understand the why behind each recommendation. We usually start with the lowest effective step and adjust as needed, alongside therapy, sleep, routines, and practical supports.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Meeting a new provider can feel vulnerable. I will listen first, explain options clearly, and keep you involved in each decision. I am currently accepting new adult patients, with appointments available within the week. If you feel stuck or overwhelmed and want supportive care and a plan you can trust, I would be honored to work with you.
