Olivia Wells, NP

Family Psychiatric & Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
CO
Hi, I’m Olivia Wells, a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with a Master’s in Nursing from Kent State University. I believe healing begins with real connection — and even a little humor can go a long way in creating that. My work is grounded in psychiatric training and anthropology, giving me a deep appreciation for how culture, identity, and lived experience shape mental health. If you're looking for someone who truly gets it, I offer a space that’s warm, collaborative, and grounded in respect. My background includes working at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center, where I cared for individuals from all walks of life and gained experience with traditional and interventional psychiatric approaches. I specialize in mood disorders, anxiety, psychotic disorders, and trauma, working frequently with adolescents, young adults, and adults. My approach blends evidence-based medication management with therapeutic strategies like CBT and motivational interviewing. I tailor our work to fit you — your strengths, your story, and what feels supportive. While I take mental health seriously, I believe it doesn’t have to feel clinical or cold. You deserve to feel safe, understood, and never judged. My style is down-to-earth and authentic, and I do my best to make sure you can show up exactly as you are. Together, we’ll build a path forward that feels empowering and sustainable. At Forest Path Psychiatry & Healing, I’m here to walk alongside you — with compassion, curiosity, and clinical expertise. Whether you’re navigating trauma, depression, anxiety, or something else, you don’t have to do it alone. Outside of sessions, I practice Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, love experimenting in the kitchen, and explore the world through travel — experiences that deepen my connection to human resilience and diversity. You deserve a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered — and that’s what I’m here to offer.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I truly look forward to meeting you! All you need to show up is a willingness to begin. I’m here to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and deeply respectful of who you are and what you've been through. My approach is relational and grounded in authenticity. I take time to truly listen, ask meaningful questions, and understand the full picture of your experience — not just your symptoms. In our first meeting, we’ll have a full hour together. I carve out this time intentionally, so we can slow down and build a foundation of trust. There’s no rushing, no checklist-style intake. Instead, you can expect a mix of therapeutic support, psychoeducation, and a lot of compassionate listening. We’ll explore what’s been going on in your life, what you’re hoping for, and what’s felt supportive (or not) in past care. I’ll also share some initial thoughts — whether that’s information about medication options, ideas for therapeutic resources in the community, or ways to start shifting patterns that may be keeping you stuck. My role is to guide, not dictate — to walk alongside you as we explore what healing might look like for you. Whether this is your first time seeking psychiatric support or you’ve had care before, I’m here to meet you without judgment, pressure, or pretense. You deserve a provider who takes the time, who cares deeply, and who can hold both the science and the soul of this work.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our work together begins with understanding the full context of your life. I don’t just look at a list of symptoms — I listen to your story. The first session is 60 minutes long, which allows time to explore not just what’s going on right now, but how your history, environment, culture, and values all shape your mental health experience. After this initial intake, we’ll discuss treatment options together. My process is collaborative and centered on your voice. If medication might be helpful, I’ll walk you through the options in a clear, low-pressure way, explaining how each works, what to expect, and what other support might amplify your healing. I also incorporate therapeutic approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care into our sessions, even when medication is involved. Each follow-up is a chance to check in on how things are going — not just clinically, but emotionally and relationally. I want our sessions to feel like a place where you can be honest, ask questions, and feel fully seen. Some clients want to do short-term work around a specific issue; others stay longer to process trauma, life transitions, or complex diagnoses. We’ll always move at your pace. This is your healing journey, and I’m here to support it with clinical knowledge, compassion, and genuine care.
