I’m a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner, and I believe you shouldn’t have to wait six weeks to talk to someone about how you’re feeling. At VPMC Mental Wellness most new patients are seen within two weeks, in person in Reston or Lansdowne or by video anywhere in Virginia. My approach combines medication management with therapy, including CBT, DBT and psychoeducation. I look at the whole picture: your history, your stressors, how you cope, and what you want to be different. Before outpatient practice I worked in inpatient behavioral health and crisis care, so I’ve seen people at every stage of getting better. I treat anxiety, depression, ADHD, insomnia, panic, burnout and stress related to work, family and life changes, for adults and older teens. VPMC Mental Wellness is part of Virginia Premium Medical Care, a physician-led practice, so your mental health care and your medical care can finally be in one place.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first visit is a 60-minute evaluation: what you’re experiencing, when it started, what you’ve tried, your medical history, and two short questionnaires we’ll repeat at later visits to track progress. We agree on goals and a plan the same day, which may include medication, therapy, or both. Follow-ups are 30 minutes, every 2 to 4 weeks until you’re stable, then less often. Adult ADHD evaluation is a two-visit process; medication decisions are made after the evaluation is complete. With your permission, I coordinate with your primary care provider.
