Getting to know Oshetisi Stanney
Hello! I am the owner of Towerlight Health and Wellness. When you schedule an appointment with me, you are scheduling to see me virtually through Towerlight Health and Wellness.
I am currently NOT able to prescribe DEA schedule II and IV controlled substances (meds such as Klonopin, Ativan, Xanax, Concerta, or Adderall) to patients not located in Massachusetts. I hold a Master's in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Regis College, a Bachelor's degree from Kennesaw State University, an Associate's degree from Cape Cod Community College, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Massachusetts, Boston.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I believe that in addition to medication, treatment goals include creating and maintaining healthy lifestyle habits. Such habits might include getting a good night's sleep, better eating habits and moving more, as well as having a healthy support system of positive people.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
Prior to their first appointment, patients fill out a health history/intake packet. During the first appointment, we will revisit the individual's history, previous medications trialed, current medications (if any) and current reason for seeking treatment.
If the patient has not had a medical evaluation, I suggest scheduling a wellness exam with their PCP prior to any new psychiatric medications being prescribed, to rule out medical causes for the symptoms. If the patient has had an annual exam recently, this office may order additional labs depending on the patient's symptoms and potential course of treatment. If the patient is stable on their current psychiatric medication regimen and the associated labs, this process may not be necessary.
For chronic mental health conditions in which no medication changes are necessary, follow-up appointments will usually occur every 1-3 months, depending on condition/medication. If medication changes need to be made or if the patient's condition has been worsening, they may need to be seen more frequently or referred to a higher level of care.
