About Dr. Pankti Patel
Dr. Patel started her education in 2003 at the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She graduated with a major in Biomedical Engineering. She achieved her medical training at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria and completed her general surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she developed a profound interest in robotic and minimally invasive surgery.
After completing her residency, Dr. Patel found her next opportunity on the eastern side of the States. She trained as a fellow at the Magee Women’s Hospital of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, one of the oldest training programs in the field of bariatric surgery. During this fellowship she focused on robotic, minimally-invasive, and bariatric surgery and has performed several bariatric and revisional surgeries. She has published several articles in the field of surgery, including a book chapter on Acute and Long-term Complications of Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Patel is American Board of Surgery certified as well with the daVinci System for Robotic Surgery. Additionally, she is an active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.

The office was severely over booked, I waited over an hour to be taken back to begin testing, I was taken to the exam room 2x to see the doctor only to be then asked to go back to the waiting room without being seen, I never was examined, after the second time of them having me go back to the waiting room, they just had me meet the doctor in her office. The entire visit took over 2 hours and staff were all running around trying to squeeze every patient in when they clearly did not have enough staff for the amount of patients booked. I saw the doctor for under 20 minutes out of the over 2 hours I was there.. In those minutes the doctor explained the procedures to me very quickly and showed me a video while she proceeded to be on her phone.. .. I had blood test and other results faxed and emailed to her, she went over nothing& also gave me incorrect information that contradicted NYBG own site.. Her staff also doesn’t follow up on emails / calls both from me & my insurance.

This Doctor was terrible! Rude short and each time I spoke she act as if I didn’t speak direct,clearly and loudly and yelled What ?! I am pretty sure she could hear me.
She seemed racist and kept telling me she doesn’t know if my insurance would cover anything I wanted to look into. I was pretty much telling her what I wanted . I have 1199 It was almost like she wanted me to leave. I was very disgusted and turned off by her. I was asked if I wanted to see another doctor I kindly told them I didn’t want to see any doctor that even knew her !
The office however was very understanding to my concerns and it seems to not be her first time getting this kind of complaint.
I took two test neither were discussed with me. I asked her was everything ok? why do I feel like she doesn’t want to help me she smiled and said I am sorry you feel that way ! It was scary weird and I was waiting very long my appointment was at 2pm it was 3:30 and I still had not been seen in a pretty empty office!

I rate the doctor 1 view only she seemed judgmental and very strong attitude with explaining and just glazed at me yet her point
I know and knew my weakness that I had sugar cravings , and explained to her my issues . She did not even have the courtesy to say sorry I couldn’t assist you better .
Her medical staff were friendly thought.
They came outside in the cold to get me because I had a difficult time navigating there office . The doctor seems she picks her patients based on judging .

NYBG has been nothing short of amazing! From my first appointment I was made to feel very comfortable. The staff and patients are so very nice and helpful. I was able to talk to a few post OP patients and they were great at giving tips. Dr. Patel is amazing, sweet and knowledgeable.

Dr. Patel is very sweet and very knowledgeable. After my final appointment my anxiety has subsided. The staff helps to calm your nerves. I highly recommend this group. They make you feel like fairly and get you ready for surgery.
