About Patricia Donohue
Patricia Donohue has over 25 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner with specialization in surgery, emergency medicine, orthopedics and bone metabolism correlating fracture patterns with bone mineralization as a contributing factor to injury. Patricia is board certified as an acute care nurse practitioner (ACNP-BC) and holds a certification as an orthopedic nurse practitioner and a certification in clinical densitometry from the International Society of Clinical Densitometry (ISCD).
Patricia obtained her MSN from Columbia University School of Nursing and an MPH from the University of South Florida. Patricia worked as a faculty adjunct at Columbia University School of Nursing and continued to precept Nurse Practitioner students throughout her career.
Patricia's experience working in trauma has given her the ability to evaluate fracture patterns sustained from a particular mechanism of injury. High energy forces such as motor vehicle crashes, sports and falls from a height are likely to break even the strongest of bones. However, fractures from low energy forces such as walking and falling are often associated with weakened bone mass or strength. Working at Hospital for Special Surgery where she ran the metabolic bone health center has provided her with a knowledge of bone mineralization and bone health.
Patricia has published on bone health and mineralization and has lectured in metabolic bone health at academic and community settings. Patricia is also certified as a personal trainer by the American Council of Exercise.
