Dr. Patrick Melder is a native of Texas. He obtained undergraduate degrees in biology and chemistry at Houston Baptist University in Houston, TX. Patrick attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, TX. After graduating, he completed a surgical internship at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX, and then completed his Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. After training, he became a staff surgeon at Walter Reed and an Associate Program Director at the National Capital Consortium Otolaryngology Training Program. Patrick later became Chief of Otolaryngology at Walter Reed. He served on active duty for 13 years and left active duty to pursue a private practice career. He later obtained additional board certification in Sleep Medicine. Patrick is a serial entrepreneur. As an entrepreneur, he has invented, developed, manufactured, marketed, and sold products and has successfully raised millions of dollars in the process. In addition, he has consulted with and licensed medical device technologies to top-tier medical device companies. “I love to solve problems, help people, and take complex subjects and make them understandable. Every subject or endeavor I have pursued, I have mastered and, in the process, learned to assimilate massive amounts of new, disparate information while applying my problem-solving skills, always creating unique solutions. I'm comfortable working in ambiguous situations, setting goals and getting results. With my military background and history of working at large institutions, I understand the chain of command and how to be a team player.”
