Getting to know Paul Mathenge

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, I focus on clear, steady medication management for adolescents, adults, and older adults. I have special expertise in ADHD; addiction; anxiety; depression; bipolar disorders; schizophrenia; and behavioral concerns. I also support medication management across care settings, including adult family homes, assisted living facilities, and long-term care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My ideal client is someone who’s ready to find stability and reclaim a sense of control in their daily life. You may be living with ADHD, mood swings, anxiety, depression, or challenges related to addiction. You may also be an older adult in assisted living or long-term care, navigating complex symptoms or medications that no longer feel manageable. Many of the people I work with have tried multiple medications or felt lost in the system and are looking for someone who will slow down, listen carefully, and create a plan that truly fits them.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and patient-centered. I take time to understand your history, current challenges, and goals so we can make decisions together. I believe that medications can be powerful tools, but they are most effective when tailored to your unique needs and regularly reviewed as your life changes. Together, we will work toward a treatment plan that feels understandable, sustainable, and aligned with the life you want to live.

Paul went through my entire history, tweaked everything, and I started feeling better in just a couple weeks.
My sleep was trash for years. Paul changed one med and now I actually sleep like a normal person.
Paul takes the time to explain why he’s making each change and always checks how the meds are actually affecting me. He fine-tuned everything over a few visits and got rid of the side effects that were dragging me down. I finally feel normal again.
I was nervous about switching anything after so many bad experiences. Paul walked me through every step, adjusted things gradually, and kept following up until we hit the sweet spot. Night-and-day difference, and I never feel rushed or dismissed.
Paul caught a medication interaction that every other doctor missed for years. He fixed it right away, explained everything clearly, and now my energy is back and things finally feel balanced. Total game-changer.
Switching to a new mood stabilizer scared me, but Paul walked me through it and checked in constantly. Zero drama, totally smooth.
I’d been on the same meds for years with no real improvement and a bunch of side effects I thought I just had to live with. Paul reviewed everything, made thoughtful changes, and adjusted the doses slowly. For the first time in forever I feel steady and actually like myself again.
Previous providers just kept raising doses when things weren’t working. Paul started fresh, went low and slow, and found the exact combination and dosing that works for my day-to-day life. My focus and mood have never been this consistent.
I’ve been to a bunch of providers who just threw stimulants at me. Paul actually listened and got my ADHD meds dialed in right.
Paul takes the time to explain why he’s picking each medication and what to expect. Never feels rushed, and for once my symptoms aren’t all over the place.
Paul finally figured out it wasn’t just anxiety after years of doctors brushing me off. The meds he put me on actually work. I can’t believe the difference.
