What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is always to meet you where you're at and tailor our work together around what you need and where you want to ultimately arrive through our process. I believe in working collaboratively, combining your expertise on you and my expertise on process, to set beneficial goals and guide you through the process. As a Christian, I recognize the power of faith in anyone’s life and relationships. Although I am not a Christian Counselor, I love the opportunity to incorporate faith into the therapeutic process when applicable. I have seen firsthand the transformative power of faith in and out of the therapy room and would be happy to walk that path with you as well. However, if you are not a person of any particular faith or don’t see that as a part of your journey, I’m always desiring to meet you where you’re at in life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As I said above, my process primarily results from a collaborative conversation that determines your individual and relational needs. I am primarily solution-focused and am always trying to work toward the ultimate goals. I do realize, however, that there are times when we need to work backward in order to move forward.

More information on payments and coverage

A deposit is required to reserve your initial appointment with one of our therapists. The deposit is equal to the cost of your first session and will be applied to that session automatically once the session has been completed. However, as per our general financial policy, if you cancel more than 24 hours in advance, this deposit can be refunded back to you upon request or applied to your first session if you reschedule. If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment or no show, this deposit will not be refunded or applied to future sessions. Our clinicians’ time is important to us and to others who are hoping to utilize the open slots on their schedules, so we do ask that you notify us as soon as you know you won’t be able to make it so we can make that slot open to others who are in need of therapeutic assistance. Payment in full is expected at the time of service. Our fee structure is based on an hourly rate. If sessions lasting longer than an hour are scheduled or occur, the fee will be prorated at the same hourly rate. Will I Be Reimbursed for Out-Of-Network Therapy? In most cases, yes. Stanford Couples Counseling is happy to offer a superbill upon request which you may be able to file with your insurance provider for out-of-network reimbursement. This means you will need to pay your therapist for the entire session when you receive their services, but your insurance company may be able to send you a check to reimburse a portion of the cost once you file an out-of-network reimbursement claim. **Please contact your insurance provider to check whether you qualify for out-of-network reimbursement benefits** For additional questions about payment or insurance, please call our office to speak with one of our Client Support Specialists.
