What should a new client know about working with you?

My goal is to provide compassionate, comprehensive, and evidenced-based mental health care to children, adolescents, and young adults ages 2 to 24 years old. I encourage a collaborative approach to care that involves not only the child or adolescent, but also their families and other support systems. By integrating therapy, community support, medication management, and psychoeducation, we can strive to create a holistic plan of care that enhances the overall quality of life for patients. My goal is to empower patients and their families by understanding the unique needs of each individual and by promoting emotional well-being and healthy development.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

All new patient visits start with in-depth assessment designed to identify and diagnose mental health conditions. This initial office visit is scheduled for 90 minutes. However, an additional office visit may need to be scheduled if more time is needed to gather clinical information. This is a structured conversation between the patient and parent, or guardian aimed at gathering comprehensive information about the patient's mental health history, current symptoms, and biopsychosocial history. This interview includes inquiries about the patient's medical history, family history, social relationships, academic performance, and any previous psychiatric treatments. Establishing rapport and ensuring a safe environment for open communication is also an important component of this initial interview.
