Getting to know Dr. Pei-Chen Wu
I earned my PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University. In 2008, I obtained a Geriatric Training Certificate and specialized in treating the geriatric population with depression, anxiety, and other psychiatric disorders. My previous experience includes establishing a geriatric mental health program, where I had the opportunity to provide supervision to clinicians and interns, lead interdisciplinary treatment meetings, monitor and ensure treatment models and guidelines were followed, and provide in-service training to community partners and other providers. During this time, we successfully helped many homebound individuals become more self-sufficient by using evidence-based treatment models.
My other experiences include working as a clinical psychologist providing in-home and in-clinic psychotherapy to seniors suffering from severe mental illness, working in private practice with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds presenting a variety of issues such as anger, child abuse, psychotic disorders, depressive disorders, and adjustment disorders. I also provided therapy to refugees in jail settings. Furthermore, I worked with severely psychiatric patients by providing individual therapy, creating tailored behavioral modification plans, and facilitating group therapy at an inpatient psychiatric hospital. Additionally, I worked with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders by providing behavioral interventions and assessments.
As a multilingual psychologist fluent in English, Mandarin, and Taiwanese, who has worked with clients from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, I have become more culturally sensitive in providing a comprehensive range of mental health services for a diverse population.
I have a special interest in the Eclectic Approach and Multicultural Therapy.
