Getting to know Peris Rodriguez

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) providing psychiatric care for adults in California, Utah, and Washington. In California, I offer both in-person appointments at my Rocklin office and telehealth across the state. In Utah and Washington, I provide care exclusively via secure telehealth. I specialize in anxiety, depression, PTSD, trauma, OCD, ADHD, mood disorders, burnout, sleep disorders, perinatal and postpartum mental health, and stress-related conditions — offering comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and evidence-based medication management. My approach is patient-centered, trauma-informed, and collaborative. I take time to understand your symptoms, history, and goals before we talk about treatment. I explain your options clearly so you can make informed decisions about your care — no rushed appointments, no one-size-fits-all plans. Alongside medication management, I take an integrative approach, looking at sleep, stress, lifestyle, and the mind-body connection as part of the full picture. I also coordinate with your therapist or primary care provider when that supports your treatment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me starts with being heard. I take time to listen carefully, ask thoughtful questions, and make sure you feel understood before we talk about any kind of treatment plan. My style is patient-centered and trauma-informed. I provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and evidence-based medication management, and I explain your diagnosis, your options, and your next steps in plain language — so you always know where we stand and why. Care at New Leaf Mental Health is structured and goal-oriented, but never rigid. Alongside medication management when appropriate, I take an integrative approach that looks at sleep, stress, lifestyle, and overall well-being as part of your psychiatric care. Treatment is tailored to you — not a template. My goal is for you to leave every appointment feeling supported, informed, and clear on the path forward. Whether you're managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, burnout, a mood disorder, or perinatal mental health concerns, we work toward real outcomes: symptom relief, emotional stability, and improvement in how you function day to day. I see patients in person in Rocklin, California and via telehealth throughout California, Utah, and Washington.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first appointment is a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. We spend that time going through your mental health history, current symptoms, past and present medications, medical background, and relevant lifestyle factors — sleep, stress, and anything else that shapes how you're feeling. The goal is to understand the full picture before making any treatment recommendations. From there, follow-up sessions focus on medication management, symptom monitoring, and adjusting your treatment plan as needed. I use a collaborative, trauma-informed approach that includes psychoeducation and supportive discussion — so you understand what we're doing and why at every stage. One important clarification: I provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management, not weekly psychotherapy. If therapy is part of your treatment plan, I'm happy to coordinate with your therapist or refer you to one. Many of my patients work with both a therapist and a prescriber, and I collaborate across that care team when it's helpful. Each session is structured and goal-oriented, with a focus on symptom relief, emotional stability, and real improvement in daily functioning — whether you're managing anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, OCD, burnout, mood disorders, perinatal mental health concerns, or sleep and stress-related conditions. I see patients in person in Rocklin, California and via telehealth throughout California, Utah, and Washington.

Before we relocated to Australia, Peris was extremely helpful to my mum during a very difficult time and that kindness has never been forgotten. She is warm, professional, and genuinely cares about people in a way that makes you feel comfortable and respected straight away.
Peris Rodriguez is an exceptional provider who genuinely listens and makes patients feel comfortable, respected, and understood. She takes the time to explain things clearly, answers questions thoroughly, and creates a welcoming, judgment-free environment. Her professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail stand out immediately. I left every appointment feeling heard, supported, and confident in my care plan. Highly recommend Peris Rodriguez to anyone looking for a knowledgeable and caring mental health provider.
Peris is a really thoughtful provider who really listens! She took all of my history in full stride and gave good medical advice when I asked. She's been really supportive as we've worked to figure out my medication, and I'm really happy to be working with her.
I have had Dr.P for a couple months now and I can honestly say that she has your best interest when it comes to recommending medication’s. To give an example, I was prescribed a medication, but the side effect of headache headaches lasted longer than expected, and when I made that known, she immediately switched me to a better medication that treated the same symptoms I was having and now I don’t have any headache headachesI can honestly say that she has your best interest when it comes to recommending medication’s. Overall incredible. Peris is a very kind, very insightful individual who has been able to meet my medication needs well while also providing a completely safe space.
I was nervous at first about going to a psychiatrist, but Dr. Rodriguez immediately made me feel comfortable and at ease. From the very first appointment, I could tell that she truly has my best interests at heart. She listens carefully, takes my concerns seriously, and creates a space where I feel safe being open and honest. That level of trust has made such a difference in my experience. One thing I really appreciate is how clearly she explains everything. She takes the time to walk me through how the medication works, what to expect, and why certain decisions are being made. She presents the information in a way that I can genuinely understand, which helps me feel informed and confident rather than overwhelmed. I never feel rushed, and she always welcomes questions. Overall, I am so grateful to have found Dr. Rodriguez. She is compassionate, knowledgeable, and truly supportive. I would highly recommend her to anyone who may be feeling hesitant about seeking psychiatric care.
