Dr. Peter Gobar is a board-certified psychiatrist who earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kentucky. He is dedicated to helping people recover from anxiety, depression, and many other conditions to live their best life. Peter is a man of strong faith and enjoys helping people find hope and overcome emotional or mental challenges. While often assisting those with mild depression or high stress from jobs or relationships, he has also worked successfully with difficult cases of depression and psychosis. Dr. Gobar believes steadfastly in the power of faith, hope, and love, actively applying these principles in his practice.
With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Gobar served as Psychiatric Medical Director for JFK Hospital in Atlantis and then as Medical Director for outpatient services for patients needing intense therapy. From his first psychiatry rotation, he was recognized for his ability. A kind and compassionate man, he finds his choice to be a psychiatrist very rewarding and enjoys helping patients achieve mental and emotional well-being.
Personally supervised by Dr. Gobar, Kindal Sweet, Megan Benda, Ana Aun, and Carl Brescia distinguished themselves, ranking number one in their medical class. His professional perspective is to practice psychiatry with a spiritual-biological-psychological-social approach, combining thoughtful care with psychoeducation. As a young man, he learned every human is worthy of understanding, and in his words, “I internalized that belief to the very core of who I am.” He uses this awareness to help patients recover and live their best life.

Patients are encouraged and feel supported. Dr. Gobar equips you with tools to better cope with depression and anxiety and to achieve wellness. He helps patients overcome their current situation on a positive journey to live their best life. He believes steadfastly in the power of faith, hope, and love and applies these actively in his medical practice. He also never gives up on a patient.
Dr. Gobar uses insight oriented and supportive therapy, borrowed heavily from a cognitive behavorial approach, to get patients better. He has many therapy approaches he can utilize, given his many years of helping people, including treating patients in need of intense therapy.
